Yeah I feel the same.

On one hand facts speak clearly: 6/7% performance increase in processor-intensive tasks.

On the other hand there weren't yet clear hands-on comparisons.

I hope the upcoming anandtech review will clear this up, once and for all, so I can finally get my system :)

I am not going to wait, I am going to pull the trigger tomorrow on a 512GB/16GB/2.8GHz.

Only weird thing is that estimated delivery is for November 12?!? (UK mainland)

I will call Apple's hotline tomorrow and fire away my last questions. Will also ask about the battery life i5 vs. i7. Then I'll order online with student discount (same config as you probably). So far it estimates shipping to take place between 1-3 days after ordering.

I chatted twice with Apple hoping to dispel my doubts, but it didn't happen. Both assistants suggested me NOT to upgrade anything, that 8GB/2.6GHz are enough.

If anything, one said, I should upgrade CPU, not RAM.

Tears - that makes no sense...I would see RAM to be more beneficial than processor - depending on what you're doing. I'm in the same boat and want the most battery - but as much power to no sacrifice much (if any) battery. I just want to see all 3 machines combined under the same load...anyone that can find this - wins the prize!

I"ve almost thought about ordering and trying one out then shipping it back. Ordering the next, trying it, shipping it back...

I guess that if you do single, processor-intensive operations, then it makes sense. Those operations would be performed faster and they don't use much RAM.

By the way, pulled the trigger on a 512GB/16Gb/2.8GHz. I think it makes sense in terms of resale value.

Congrats buddy! The choice I would (perhaps will) make as well :)
