I think I'll stick with my 2011 13" MBP, I really want the retina but also don't like big laptops. a lot of the people purchasing are buying solely on impulse...new latop, latest technology, but 80% likely won't be using it to its full potential

If I had a 2011, I would be sticking with it too. I like the retina, both my iPad and iPhone are retina. The 15" is a good size, with good weight.

How about neither...i notice you have a Late 2006 MacBook, Black, 2.0 Ghz, 4 GB Ram, 320 GB HD...if you bought a nice ssd you would be blown away at how much faster your macbook would be.

I just did the same thing with my macbook, and in real world apps it boot and runs programs (non gaming because of intel gpu) faster then 2010 mbp.

For about $200 you could get a 128gig intel 520 series (fast and most reliable ssd's out there...and then buy a sata external enclosure and use your old drive as extra storage...

Here is my post all about what i did...save your money!

You've made a point but I am really looking for a full upgrade. CPU, RAM, DISPLAY.

I waited thinking there would be a next generation 13" announced. Anyhow, I went ahead and ordered the i7 13". Disk space and smaller screen size is my priority. Besides, I don't think I could afford a 13" Retina if it existed.

I wanted a 13" Retina too, only because I thought it would be cheaper than a 15", but they weren't announced. I like the 15", but I think I hate the fact that it only has 256gb internal storage. I have never really dealt with having to have external storage except for backup. Some people have made good suggestions with USB 3.0 Flashdrives. Anything faster than that? Maybe using TB.

13" and retina, is that really workable? Find my air 1400x???? Very good to work with, but wondering if retina isnt too much on a 13". Perhaps a 14" screen in a 13" body?

The iPad has a ~10" retina. The MBP has a 15" retina. Don't see how a 13" retina wouldn't be workable.
