13 Pro: deactivating lens correction has no effect

Hi,

I deactivated the lens correction on my 13 Pro and thought this will result in some kind of fisheye effect but I don’t see any difference when using the ultra wide camera (0.5x) after deactivating the setting. Same for the front camera.

Did I miss something or this some kind of bug?

I think the difference may be in the finished image.

I haven’t experimented with the setting you’re referring to yet, but I’m expecting it to alter what you can see happening with lens correction when you browse the photo library containing Live Photos and can see the edges of images change as you swipe through photos taken with the ultra wide lens.

I’ve just looked this up; as you indicate, this setting is related to the ultra wide camera and the front camera:

Turn Lens Correction off and on​

On iPhone 12 models and later, the Lens Correction setting adjusts photos taken with the front camera or Ultra Wide camera for more natural-looking results.
Lens Correction is on by default. To turn off Lens Correction, go to Settings

> Camera, then turn off Lens Correction.

I definitely observe some adjustment happening – when swiping through Live Photo photographs shot with the Ultra Wide lens, in my Photos library. The adjustment is at the edges of the image, and corrects some of the ‘warping’.

Mhmm, maybe I always just tried the wrong objects. I had oriented myself on the iPhone 11 examples and photographed things like my bookshelf.
There is nothing to see. So the next few days I'll try find a brick wall using Live Photo.

I have exactly the same problem, also with the iPhone 13 pro. It makes the wide camera almost useless for me. I can't believe more people aren't bringing this issue up, unless we are the only ones with faulty iphones?

If anyone has any kind of workaround or knows an app that can shoot without lens correction, I'd love to hear about it.

update: the app called "Cinema P3 Pro Camera" is the only one I found that seems to give you so much technical tweaking flexibility that finally, you can turn off lens correction.

I think in the free version, it works too. It makes a slight difference, not huge, but I'm happy I found a way around!

I would have been using iPhone 13 Pro.

same here, iphone 12 mini, the lens correction setting has absolutely no effect.
