My 13 Pro Max gets warm and dims the screen to what is about 30% brightness after maybe 3-5 minutes or use from just scrolling the forums. My 12 mini did that randomly when warm, but nothing like this.

This beautiful, bright screen and powerful phone can’t handle a few minutes of browsing safari? Thought about doing a restore, but not sure that would do any good.

Anyone else experience this?

I wiped it and did not restore from the iCloud backup. We’ll see if this helps.

Let us know if this works. I never figured out why my 11 Pro would do that. It’s one of about 3 reasons I didn’t hang onto my 11 Pro despite my love for the size, color, and overall feature set of that phone.

It didn’t work. But, I’ve only had it do it so far when browsing this forum. (From what I recall) I’m going to keep monitoring and see if it does it anywhere else.

Lmao, I’ve had this issue with the 12 Pro, 12 Mini, 12 & apparently the 11 isn’t great either.
My XS was literally the greatest iPhone ever built. Fast as hell, great battery life, *perfect size*, OLED display with solid representation across the gamut incl. rich reds unlike now, and the only time I had issues with the display brightness or heat was in the direct sunlight during summer time. And if it did dim unbeknownst to me outside those parameters it wasn’t as if the basal illumination was so poor as make said dimming especially irritating or salient whatsoever, and I enjoy high brightness, so.

I was wondering if the 13 design internally improved this, guess not?

Apple, stop throwing absurdly intensive animation at everything & boosting clock rates. we went from 2.4GHz with the A12 to to 3GHz with the A14. I’d at least like the ability to change clockspeeds instrumentally (power profile more granular than low power mode).

I’m also having the dimming issue after a couple of minutes browsing. 13 pro max

I just read on another forum that browsing MR forums is the culprit. Been doing a bit of that

Browsing any website should not do that. Is there a case on the phone? If so, remove the case and see if the same issue occurs. My iPad would do this until I removed the plastic case it was in, which was trapping heat.

I have the problem too. I have no case. I rebooted and it was bright. I then went to the DHL tracking site and it dimmed. I am not sure if it was the cause or just coincadence. I can’t reboot again yet. I have it on CarPlay so a lot if giong on. It is also hot (relatively) so perhaps it is trying to cool off. I’ll check back here and update if I find anything out.

No case…
