Buy the iPhone that you want and enjoy.
Honestly at this point, people should be doing what works best for them, if upgrading every year is your thing, do it, life is short, enjoy this thing!

I’m thoroughly enjoying my 13 Pro Max it’s more powerful than I need a phone to be and it does all that I want to do on it incredibly well.
If the 14 Pro Max is a worthwhile upgrade for you get it and enjoy it, looking at the reviews Apple have knocked it out the park as per usual.
You cannot go wrong if something works for you.

I’ve swapped my 13 Pro for the 13 Pro Max this morning as my wife and I have had them a week and she’s complained about the size of it all week. Indeed, get the phone you want I say, I chose last years devices as the deals were too good to pass up and the 14 Pro isn’t worth the extra over it IMHO. Works for me although the Max is far too big and not sure how I’m going to get on with it. It’s bloody heavy too!

Haha, it is indeed heavy, my suggestion to anyone getting a Pro Max is to get a slim grippy case to reduce the stress on your hands and wrist.

As a 13 ProMAX owner that satellite feature is nice. But is anyone making the switch? If so why ?
If you are thinking about money and if it's worth it coming from a 13 Pro Max, then of course the update is an expensive hobby..
If you don't really care about money, then you are getting a better display, the dynamic island, always on and a better camera.

If you don’t mind please post a pic? Or have you posted it somewhere here? I’m looking for another case for mine, lol, tempted to get leather.

Sure here you go:

For me, my 14 Pro Max has one huge new thing worth the upgrade: 2000 nits brightness for outdoors. The 13 max, even at max brightness, outdoors was sometimes hard to see. But the 14, when auto brightness is on (it only cranks up high when auto brightness is on), can up itself to 2000 nits, looking like you are indoors, even on the brightest day in the sunshine. It's a stunning difference.

Currently in that dilemma having gone from 13 Pro to 14 Pro Max, which is as you know, much of the same iPhone as yours. Even with large hands, I'm finding it to be a bit too much to deal with ergonomically. Not so with the 11 Pro Max even--must be the increase in size and weight. Love the increase in screen resolution over the standard Pro cause of the screen size, but it hurts my hands after extended use.

I bought a Caudabe Sheath as I had one of those on my iPhone 12. Really grippy but slim and looks awesome.
I found the sheath magsafe case overly heavy for what it is, especially on the 13 max as it's heavy enough. They were good before that added magsafe.

I've tried heaps over the last year on my 13 max, currently have the nomad leather, apple silicone and apple leather. Keep going back to the apple leather, just feels smaller/lighter, moulds to the phone best and the bottom is soft.
Although gets sticky in heat/humid here but good grip.
The nomad lip I like better, doesn't get sticky, buttons are good but is a bit taller and bottom is a bit tough.
The silicon has good feel but smudges up a bit, was cheap as so grabbed in the dark blue.

To be honest the phone is so heavy I haven’t noticed the difference as it’s still heavy. I don’t need the MagSafe element as I have no intention of getting a MagSafe charger but I think that’s all Caudabe do now. I can’t do leather cases as I drop my phone more than I should and I’d wreck a nice leather case in a matter of days.

Other than the size of the display, every other feature has been updated. So yeah, there is a point.

I think 13 PM owners got the short end of the stick given how big the changes were this year.
I feel the opposite.. I feel like upgrades this year are not worth upgrading to coming from a 13. Even the battery is worse on launch than the 13. Dynamic island while cool seems very gimmicky. Even the camera looks very similar in comparison shots minus the 48 megapixel shots. Very underwhelming year.

I usually upgrade each year because of the trade in value (or I sell my phone)

So while I'm out of pocket just a bit (mainly for a new case, etc.) the value of the old phone, for the most part, pays for the new one.

And then next year, I can sell the most recent model (which usually has the highest resell / trade in value)

Battery tests show the iPhone 14 Pro Max gains about 50 minutes. Yes, the shots will be similar if 48MP gets compressed down to 12MP. Whether it's worth it really depends on how you use the camera.
