Well, I did go an get the 13 Pro battery replaced at the local Apple Store genius bar. Nice and fresh at 100% again! Is it still recommended on these batteries to drain them all the way to zero and then give a full charge? Or just go and use them like regular?

Also, nice to know when the do all the pre-diagnostics that my 13 Pro had zero issues. Hopefully it's good for another couple years now!

I had a few more days with the 16 Pro and I did the same, but I went back to the 12 Pro. I think it was the touch issue that pushed me over to go back. I’ll wait for a 17.
Same I can’t wait for the 17. No matter what I’m sticking with that phone.

I'm thinking about doing the same. Probably will replace the battery on my 13 Pro and then see what the 17 Pro has in store next year. The main negative is losing the USB-C jack which is really convenient since my iPad and MacBook charge with it. But hard to justify the net $600 cost increase just for that while the 13 Pro still seems good.
Yea that’s what was getting me. My 13 Pro is just still so good. I appreciate Apple for that! I was super excited for USB-C as well. Luckily I took the phone back so fast I didn’t even have a chance to use USB-C.

Sadly I lost (or stolen, not sure, FindMy locates my phone on the other side of town at someone's house ) my iPhone 13pro last Friday, I already said on this thread I would not be upgrading but I had to replace my phone and I went for the 16Pro.
Honestly I don't see much difference other than a fresh battery and a 5x zoom (although I find annoying they removed try 3x in favour of 2x) The camera button is pretty much useless
I wanted to wait for the 17, the 16 is an underwhelming upgrade

I only upgraded because my company covered the cost all but $100, but I can't really tell any difference. I liked the notch better than the dynamic island, I don't like AOD but otherwise everything is mostly the same.

I do like USB-C as my wife is a pixel user so we can use the same charger, and the satellite feature is nice. I've been trialing it over the last few weeks to see if I can drop my Garmin inReach subscription. I used it several times out in the Nevada desert last week; it works, but it's a lot slower to connect, and more fiddly.

It's a wash.

Did you not go to that house across town with police to retrieve your iPhone?

Also upgraded from 13pro to 16pro, because company paid for it... But there is almost nothing new. Display is bigger and my muscle memory feels it (since I do typos around the edges), camera is a bit nicer but nothing groundbreaking, I installed 18.1beta for Apple Intelligence but it is almost useless now (or I don't know how to use it to help me with something). The best "upgrade" is the USB-C port, as I can finally ditch lightning cable (ipad, airpods, macbook are all USB-C). Gave the 13pro to my wife (who had 11pro) and she is very happy with that upgrade :D

All in all, I would have waited another year if my employer did not pay for the phone (would have just let Apple swap the 13pro battery). 13pro is still very good!

13 Pro Max to a 16 Pro Max and it’s a small upgrade, feels mostly the same overall. There are some nice touches but I suppose it’s the AI that will bring the bigger differences.

I've actually foregone my carrier's "free" upgrade and will wait to see what AI brings. From what I am seeing so far on my iPad with 18.1, it's not looking promising.

From the hardware point of view, I see absolutely no reason to upgrade from 13 Pro. None of the incremental improvements are appealing to my use case.

Can't believe I've had the same phone for 3 years, that's a first.

Went from the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1Tb to the iPhone 16 Pro Max 1Tb. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGdRdMWTV/

The only difference is the 5x zoom and easy side button to press to switch the ringer to silent. But I am waiting with bated breath for the AI release. That's the reason I opted to upgrade. Good also to have a 100% battery rather than 88%.

Postscript: I returned my iPhone 13 for a replacement battery at £85. Apple broke the connector to the camera and provided me with a brand new replacement iPhone 13 Pro Max 1Tb.

I'm in London and unfortunately the police doesn't care about lost or stolen phones. The location app doesn't give me the precise house number , it says 1-13 and the street name, so it could be on any of those 13 houses .
The phone is switched off since Friday night so either they switched it off straight away or it run out of battery

I went from the "normal" 13 to the "normal" 16 (I don't do much photography, so everything in the Pro series is not worth the extra € to me) and I am very happy. The 16 is notably faster, more energy-efficient (granted, the 13 had a 3-year-old battery already) and I love the Dynamic Island.

I'm already ‘looking forward’ to Apple removing Dynamic Island again. That's what they did with the touchbar, although I also found it really useful... :)

After a few days l, I can say a normal 16 would most likely be even nicer (for me)… I don’t care that much about 120hz display, turned off AOD anyway and I find 5x zoom almost useless (I really miss 3x from 13pro, which was nice for portraits, 5x is far too long), it’s also buggy on mine (18.1 RC), sometimes it cannot focus unless I kill the camera app and start it again…
