And how does it drive your TBD (from your signature)? Any noticeable lag when navigating the OS or using apps with multiple desktops and such?

*I mean beyond the normal stutter. I get occasional stutter with the 750M so I expect some.

So over the last day or so i've been watching my battery like a hawk and running a few tests and from reading the above comments i have stopped using chrome. Even though my initial results i hadn't even had anything running as it was directly after booting the thing showed battery as 5hrs, anyway lets just put that aside.

I've noticed that i am now starting to get significantly better calculated battery usage, or least it seems that way. Its hard to say as i use it here and there. I'm not really a full day user as i have a work laptop and it does randomly jump from say 60% 4-5hrs to 3hrs randomly but i'm assuming that the system is doing something at that point that makes it drop.

For example the other day i was watching a film on the HD or netflix and was showing about 12hrs battery. im now at 50% and showing about 4hrs average from memory. It is slowly starting to give me a bit more confidence, however how this would change if i was doing excel/word processing work i've no idea yet.

Not sure if i should keep my apple care store appointment tomorrow or if that will be a waste now that im starting to see some improvement; or is this just a phase.

What do you think?

I'm getting excellent battery life on my new 13". I took it with me to work yesterday and had it running a movie (wasn't watching the movie) just to see how the battery was. So, movie played for 1.5 hours. Then I took some notes with it at a meeting etc. Nothing crazy.

Then I used it during the evening to surf the web and VPN into my office to do a bit of work.

As I write this, my meter shows 54% and 7:16 remaining. However, the time remaining fluctuates wildly and depends on what the machine is doing when it calculates. Check out this article and the section about the battery status menu:

Think i will keep my appointment, just left it standing idle for 10 mins and its showing 40% with 2hrs which isn't right. no processes running in the activity monitor.

its all just a bit weird...

^^^ wow thats amazing.

so i went to the apple store. they ran the diagnostics tool and it showed no issues however i showed him all the screenshots of the bad battery and eventually after a discussion around online sales, exchanging in store they were able to directly replace it.

this is from the new one i have so a vast improvement already i believe and no GPU lagging issue either. so I'm really chuffed.

excellent customer service from the apple store from my experience!

Cool! It is really worth investing your money in product if company really cares about your max satisfaction.

Please note that you need to allow a couple days for OS X to maintain/index new content (especially after migration). After using migration assistant I had PRAM reset + forced spotlight re-indexing (via Terminal). I left on charger overnight with Powernap enabled to finish all work - that's it. When I start day on fresh charge and nothing is running I usually get 12-14hrs estimated time on battery (brightness 1/2).

I am quite a power user (CFD, R, Python) so a lot of things are going on my mac and I can still do 8hrs easily (if no calculations are running).
