I've had my 13" since October 2008, and while I love it, I do desire a bigger screen, and I realized that during school when trying to write code and do schematic work on the small screen. It just didn't work. When I was home I just plugged in to my external display to work on.

So I'm selling my 13" and getting a 15" Hi Res Anti-glare. Solves two problems (reflections and high resolution) in one shot.

Used to have a 13" for portability, but switched to 15" mainly due to the i5 processor, as I need this one to last for at least 3 years.

So far loving the power and screen, but also surprised as this 15"is really portable and not bulky at all..

For personal use, I want the portability of a 13" MBP. I would love a Hi Res option, but the 13" size beat out the 15" resolution. (There was no Hi Res option yet when I bought last year).

For work, where I use a lot more programs and windows simultaneously, I use a 15" MBP and an external 19" monitor. Once I get some USB adaptors, I'll be upgrading that to at least 2 external monitors... maybe even 4.

17" is never an option for me, I'd feel like I was carrying around the monolith from 2001.

you think the idea of a larger laptop is dated? my issue with the 13 is it does not have an i processor.

Sorry, not dated, it's so huge I feel like I'm lugging around that huge, whining slab from the *movie* 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I like the smaller footprint of the 13", the screen size is fine. I do auto as well as some photography. The only issue I have is the gloss. I thought I was used to it, until I tried editing images.

The 13 is great for portable / couch use. But it is not big enough to use many hours a day. But it is fast enough for me. With an external monitor I could go full time.
