I think you just complimented Mac OS.
I'm a life-long dual-user. I suspect iTunes behaviour on Windows is not accidental.

I am referring to if you look at your battery and how long it estimates is left...it reports "No Apps using Significant energy".What do you consider 'significant power usage?' (ie. what are the values you are looking at? Single digits, two digits? Three?)
Maybe install Coconut Battery which will let you see how much power, in Watts, are being used in realtime.

I am sitting at around 4-5 hours of battery life. Indexing is done, i'm not running Word (or any office product)...and nothing is using "significant power usage". I'm not really sure what to think about it. I love everything so far about the laptop but that's a tough one.
I got about 6-6.5 on my first cycle. Recharged and unplugged and it said just over 6 remaining. Used it for about half hour but had to leave unexpectedly. Decided to charge to full again. Unplugged and now it says 7:48. Weird.
If I could get 8 hours reliably I'd keep it, even though it's 2 hours less than the no TB version. I love TouchID and 1Password together.

The TB takes 2 hours away???
I'm letting my battery drain now - and it's crazy at how fast it's going. I just don't see much activity (it's the same amount as before) and i am at 12% now....i'll be close to 4 - 4.5 hours once it dies unless it sits at 1% for a few hours. This is the only issue i'm having with this...
I love the TB, although if it's really a 2 hour difference in battery life, that's a no go...
[doublepost=1479351421][/doublepost]It says battery usage is 11.4 watts, 35.8 degrees c, max charge is 4433mAh, SMP Battery, BQ20z451 on coconut battery.
out of nothing more than curiosity, how do you love them together. have you actually had a chance to use them together yet ? If so.. can you describe what you love about them. I've been trying to make the move.. but last pass is less buggy, the desktop app is free, and the monthly costs are cheaper. What specifically do you like about 1password, and moreover, what specifically do you like about 1password and Touch ID? That's a bit confusing.

11.4 watts with normal usage is a bit high. you should be between 5 - 7 watts with normal web browsing. Check your energy tab under your activity monitor see what's happening .

1Password has a beta version out with TouchID support. This means I can access my vault with a finger press, whether in a browser or in the 1Password app. This is a huge time saver for me, because my master password is very long/secure. I get tired of typing it in throughout the day.
It died before I could check. Let it charge some![]()
All it does is offer vault access with your finger... lastpass and all of the others do not require a password to be entered every 10 minutes like 1password. In fact, i'm pretty sure they added this " security " to make the touch ID feature more of a non gimmick. There is no reason you should have to access the vault every 10 minutes. That' defeats the purpose of having it auto fill password fields for you, because even once you login, you then have to select the site you want it to populate , it doesn't auto populate once you login to the vault. Have you had a chance to test it yet ?
Yep, see what's going on under Energy Usage. Anything with double-digit use is worth investigating. Even consistently high numbers in the single digits is significant if it's not a program in active use.
What I also do with Coconut battery is configure it to show me how much power is watts is being drawn and keep that in the menu bar up top. That way I can always see quickly if something is consuming an inordinate amount of power, and I can fix it before it drains too much battery.
Why does this thread pop up every year for every phone, ipad, ipod, mac when everyone is fully aware the battery doesn't set itself until like day 2 or 3?
Less than 2 hours. What is the charging time from 0 to 100

1Password does not require entering a password every 10 minutes; that's up to the user. As this is a laptop and I've been a victim of identity theft in the past, my security settings are high. On my desktop I have 1P configured to only require a password ever hour or more (can't recall off the top of my head).
TouchID is also useful for App Store and iTunes purchases and even just logging in when the computer wakes from sleep.
Activity Monitor shows spikes of 11-15 for Safari while i'm typing this message. Average energy impact looks to be 6.86 for Safari though.
Microsoft Outlook is at .2 energy impact, average of 7 (I use it while at work, but close it a lot of the time). My battery comments above was with Outlook closed.
Coconut shows (with everything running that I ran and normally run with my 2015 13" MBP) a usage of 9.8 watts right this second. I heard that was high? I'm not sure what is considered high?
Brightness is at 50% and keyboard backlight is off.Ok, none of the values in Activity Monitor are out of the ordinary. 10 watts is pretty high though. Your model has a 49Whr battery. At 10W you'll get under 5 hours of usage. You need to be at 5W to get 10 hours. What's your brightness of both the screen and the keyboard backlight set at?

Really? I know the CPU would use more but the battery being 10% smaller seems...odd.It is not just the Touchbar. The battery is 10% smaller than the no TB model, and the CPU uses more energy.

The speakers take up the most space. I looked at the teardown for both 13" models. Some rather 'interesting' decisions made on the internals of the TB model. It really looks like they designed everything around the Esc model and then made things fit for the TB model. Maybe the TB was originally going to be a 15" only thing. It's one of the few times I've seen an unoptimized use of space for a battery (it's actually a bunch of batteries wired together in parallel - even when they're right next to one another, unlike the 13" Esc model). They had to make it smaller to make room for the touchbar, extra chip, and two fans vs one.
