I work remotely and used to carry around an 11" Air in my backpack all day. Since I switched to my 2016 15" I haven't actually noticed a big difference in weight. And it fits just fine on cafe tabletops. Doesn't get too hot either so I've even used it on my lap on the bus, etc. It's great.

I've had a 15" MBP since before the unibody days but in recent years I've got incredibly annoyed with lugging a 15" around. This time I opted for the 13" and I LOVE it. Super portable and easy to whip out on a plane or train (...or automobile).

I work as a product designer doing mostly front-end work and using a lot of the CC suite. I haven't had the performance issues I'd expected in dropping to a dual core and no dedicated graphics so big thumbs up there. The screen resolution is actually the same as my 2014 MBP 15" so that's an added bonus and made the transition even easier.

I can't see me going back to 15" unless for some reason my career takes on a different path.

good to hear you enjoyed the new macbook pro,

however with regard to screen resolution, the "default" scaled resolution in 2016 model has been changed, the physical pixel resolution itself is still the same, 13" & 15" 2016 has same resolution as 2014-2015 version.

I can't imagine it's easy to round with the 15" even though it's lighter than last years model. I would think that the 13", or even an iPad Pro with Apple Keyboard would be the device I'd use.

I love my 15" tbMBP but I can't see myself rounding on say 8+ patients lugging the thing around like that. I'd also be worried about getting all those germs on the machine. Better to use those clunky Dells, at least those get wiped down by the RN/staff a few times a week. My baby is staying home where it's safe!

I only run around with it for my clinic. I built several custom templates using aText that I refuse to give up on. I definitely wouldn't use it while I'm covering the ICU or inpatient pulmonary services.

Finally got my 15" today - delivery times are still insane.

The 15" is definitely portable enough for my taste and the bigger screen is fantastic. I've decided to sell the 13" and get a Surface Book for the money. The latter is smaller and great for on the airplane etc. Plus I have to say that after having had to wait so long, I've been playing with Windows 10 on Parallels and find it to be quite awesome :-/ The 15" MBP is a wonderful computer and will likely serve me well for years to come, but the way Apple has been developing, it might very well be my last Mac after having used them for 20 years now.

I returned my 13 as well. I'm deciding now if I want the base 2.6 15 with upgraded 512ssd or if I want the 2.7 base. I also figured I had my smaller XPS 13 9350 for situations like you mentioned, when I need a more portable machine. My MBP is going to be my main development machine though

I went with the 2.7 base. Wanted to go with a 1tb SSD, but they cost about 3600$ here and I wasn't willing to pay that. It's alright though, I use a Lacie TB disk array for image editing, so I should be OK with the smaller drive. The laptop is very fast, light and small (for a 15"), love it. But having a Windows computer as an even more portable backup is fantastic

Nice, I got fully refunded for my 13 today so I ordered the 2.7 base model in silver for in store pick up. I'm picking it up Thursday. I'm going out of town on Thursday to CT and the tax is cheaper there than it is here in NYC so I'm picking it up at an Apple store in CT on the way to my destination and save 2%+ in tax. :) Super excited, I hope I love it as much as I loved the 13 the few weeks I had it.

I pick up my 15 tomorrow but I stopped by a local store to play with one today. I'm still worried about it being a little too big. The weight was not bad at all but the overall footprint seemed huge to me but I've been use to working on 13 inch laptops forever. Hopefully I'll get use to it. I dont like the huge space on the palm rest, it seems like to get to the KB it's much more of a reach

I have the 13" Touchbar. It's a a nice laptop beyond any doubt. However, I'm about to turn 40 and my eyes aren't the best anymore from all the computer work over the last 25 years. I believe a 15" monitor would be fantastic. However, I work as a teacher and I have to carry my laptop around all day. How's the portability of the 15"? On paper, 1.8kg isn't very heavy and not much more than my old 13" rMBP that carried every day for years - but how is it in real life? How about the dimensions?

Anyone with a 15" carrying it all day?

Yes, I am also 40+. The 15" is now the standard for me. Its light enough.

After having carried the 15" around with me all day for 3 days now I can say that weight and bulk is a non-issue. I carry it in a backpack and literally don't notice any difference between the 13" and the 15". This might be different if you use messenger bags or something you carry in your hand all day.

On the desk, however, it makes a huge difference - I absolutely love the additional screen real estate and can't force myself to going back to smaller laptops. The only area where the bulk shows itself a bit is when working with it on the lap. I mean it's perfectly doable and no real issue but any 13" will be more comfortable for that. Been using my Surface Book more for that purpose, although even then I greatly prefer the fantastic screen size of the 15".

I carry mine in a messenger type bag and at times I forget it's in there! So light feeling.

That's pretty much the only reason I exchanged for the 13 inch. I couldn't get used to the typing on the 15. It's much more enjoyable on the smaller machine. Although, the power in the 15 inch is nice..

Can't say I agree. I find the palm rest very comfortable - resting the wrists on the table while typing, as is necessary with the 13 MBP, puts much more strain on the hands.

I found myself feeling like I needed to keep my wrists up while going on the 15 inch, even tho the palm rejection was pretty good. I just felt worried that it wasn't going to always work, and a couple times, it didn't.

I find palm rejection is fairly lousy on both the 13" and the 15" tMBP

I've heard similar comments from others - kind of a bummer, given the ginormous size of the track pad.
