Hi everyone,

I have noticed that the average idle temperature on my base configuration 14-inch MacBook Pro (with M1 Pro) is reportedly around 55 - 65 degrees C.

I am using iStat Menus to monitor the temperature, and I am just concerned if this is normal or not.

I have noticed that when the idle temperatures reach 55-65 degrees C, that the "windowserver" process takes around 9 GB of memory.

Thanks to this post for this insight - https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/14-m1-pro-standby-temperature-on-macos-monterey.2328248/

Can you guys provide some insight into the average idle temperatures you are getting on your 14-inch MacBook Pros?

Thanks,

Sanpete

Your temperatures aren't normal, but the WindowServer memory leak you noticed will cause higher temperatures.

In my case it is 36-38 C degrees (as reported by iStat Menus) with constant 15% CPU load (few apps in the background).
