How likely is it for Apple to retain the same size of the current generation 13" rMBP and make in slimmer plus increase the screen size? Currently, I feel that the 13.3" screen on my macbook air is still a bit small. But I also dont want to carry a monster that is 15" rMBP

Obviously none of us can say for sure, but I personally would like to see them offer something like that, similar to the Dell XPS 13 with the Infinity Edge display. My problem and my concern with the next iteration of MBP is that I prefer a discrete graphics card and I don't think that's been an option on the 13" model. I've seen suggestions that they may drop it from the 15" model with Skylake, so I think that automatically rules out the 13/14" model for me.

Hiding Under the Genius Bar
Anything is possible, but there is no indication that it'll happen. The rumors of a 14" MB or MBP (as well as 16" MBP) are completely unsubstantiated at this point and were created solely by wishful thinkers. I'd think that it would be far more likely for Apple to shrink the bezels and overall dimensions of the MBP in order to make a smaller machine, while keeping the same exact screen sizes. The current rumors that are being reported by MR and others say that Apple will soon introduce thin 13" and 15" notebooks, which gives credence to this idea.

With that said, I would absolutely LOVE a 16" MBP, so I would certainly be happy if they bumped up the screen sizes an inch. However, I don't want an InfinityEdge display and I doubt we will get them. The InfinityEdge displays are not very elegant in my opinion and lead to design and function issues. The XPS really shows this. You have super thin bezels on the top and sides, with a super thick, chunky bezel on the bottom. It's just not symmetrical and looks like bad design to me. Also, in order to get that top bezel so thin, they had to relocate the webcam down to the bottom bezel on the left. This was just a horrible design choice based 100% on form rather than function. I don't think Apple would be stupid enough to follow Dell in adding NostrilCam into their notebook. Thinner bezels? Yes, why not? Bring it on. I just don't want to see them razor thin for the aforementioned reasons.

Say they did this, here's what the line up would look like
11" MBA, 12" MB, 13" MBA, 13" MBP, 14 MBP, 15" MBP

Seems like a crowded lineup to me, heck, I think its crowded without the introduction of a 14" model. What would a 14" have that wouldn't be handled by the 13 or 15" MBPs?

Not likely in my opinion, but as others have mentioned Apple keep their cards close to their chest anything could happen. I think we may see a drift to 14 and 16 inch screens as bezels get smaller but manufacturers may just make smaller products p, portability is always key.

I love the screen size of the 15inch, but I wish my bezel was smaller. They could make the footprint of the 15 Pro laptop closer to a 13/14 inch model.

I just hope they don't drop the dedicated GPUs in the 15 completely. I hate how the "base" 15 doesn't have it anymore.

This is my worry, too.

Definitely hoping for a 15 inch screen on 13/14 footprint. Also hoping for color options

My guess:
Macbook in 12 and 14
Macbook Pro in 14 and 15 or 16.
Macbook Air discontinued.

The 14" would have a m5/m7 in the Macbook and perhaps i5/i7 in the Pro.

Yep. The 15" MBP screen is plenty big, if/when the bezel size gets reduced. No need to go 16".
