Hi all,

I was just looking for some opinions and advice on a potential workflow I'm looking at adopting. (Note: I'm fairly new to this stuff)

I stream and record some gameplay on my PC, usually around 4-5 hours per night, and I'm trying to review and edit some of the recordings in bed over the weekends. It wouldn't be anything fancy in the short-to-mid term, just cutting the videos around, adding some text, adding some audio etc.

I don't think my old 15" 2015 MacBook Pro is up to the task, so was thinking about a new one.

I was looking at and base 14" M4 MacBook Pro, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD in conjunction with a T7 Samsung external SSD for moving recordings from the PC.

My understanding is this MacBook would do the job really well - but just wanted to sense check if anyone doesn't agree and thinks I should push the boat out for M4 Pro, or something in the M5 range. I'd rather not spend more if this is going to work well enough, especially with refreshes on the horizon.

I also more generally wanted to know what people thought of the workflow and any advice on how noisy will an M4 run while editing 1440p video?
