These stripes appeared on my screen last night without any prompting. Went to the Genius Bar this morning and they confirmed the issue. Apparently, there aren't any 14" screens available at the repair depot in Europe so they could not send it in for repairs. Instead, they ordered the screen and will repair in-house. Best case, 5 days for the screen to arrive with repair the same day. Worse case, who knows when.

At first they wanted to file an Apple Care+ claim but accepted that this isn't normal for a month-old computer with no signs of physical damage. I wasn't about to use up a service incident and pay for a manufacturing defect.

Apple replaced the screen which includes a new cover and a lid angle sensor as a manufacturing defect. No charge.

I just watched some videos on YouTube, claiming that it makes a difference how you open and close your lid.
The guy who recorded a video showed that these new lids are possibly bending or stretching, especially when you try to open or close the lid at either edges of the display. It is best to open/close it by using the middle of the screen, with less pressure.

There are some searches claiming that these are caused by minor cracks inside the display and then becoming a major crack at the end. I assume this is a material and production error.

I am now worried for my computer as well, however I am trying to open/close it by not bending or not giving it a high shear pressure. I hope I will not encounter with the same issue. But I am glad yours has been resolved easily.
