I dont see another thread mentioning this so i am making a new one

Simple enough: when I press down the trackpad to click on something you feel the *click* sensation, but if I press down further there is a second *click*. I am not pressing that hard.

I dont like it. Is this thing supposed to do this or a hardware issue?

(my last mbp was from 2010 so if this was a feature added since I missed it)

I know what you are describing… I was also wondering about it…
It often happens to me when I try to drag something around… a little annoying to perform a double click instead of being able to drag file…

I‘d say it’s a feature, but I have no idea what good that’s supposed to do actually…

As others have said, its called force touch. It allows you to press all the way down and preview an item. Its actually very handy to use and I use it daily. But if you don't like it you can turn it off.

Not sure about DMG35 but for me, I use it to look up words and phrases. If you force touch while your cursor is over a word, in most apps it'll bring up the dictionary (using my settings at least).

I also use it when I'm navigating around the Finder and want to preview an item with Quick Look.

There are other ways to do the same things (e.g. if you want to Quick Look you can also just press the space bar) but I prefer force touching the trackpad.
