Hi All,

I have bought an unlocked US variant of Iphone 14 pro max and using it in India.

Currently I am facing an issue where when I receive a call on one of the esim the other sim’s signal becomes zero that it reflects as “no signal”.

Is this a common issue or is there a way to resolve it. And if its not common then anyone else is facing similar issue?

I am on latest official 16.1.1.

Any help in the right direction will helpful.

Hi Yuvix,

This might be normal/expected behavior. Have a look at the image I attached which is a portion of this support article.

Does that seem to fit your situation?

This has nothing to to with eSIM. This is on every iPhone with Dual-SIM in use. It is Calles DSDS (Dual Sim - Dual Standby). The iPhone is using one Antenna for both SIM`s. Samsung and co are doing the same.

In the US Verizon will cease CDMA the end of 2022. Most of the rest of the world, CDMA ceased to be offered years ago. Not sure how many new CDMA capable iPhones will be selling in the future. Pretty sure CDMA is a no go in India.

The phone is actually behaving properly, it can only be connected to one cell provider at a time, once engaged in a call on one carrier, "no service" will appear for the other carrier . Once the call is ended, the "no service" should disappear.

It is my first iPhone experience that is why I am bit startled to see this. Previously i was using Samsung s21plus and in that I have never seen network getting dropped from one of the sim if I get a call on the other one.

Now I know…

Like others said you need to have wifi calling turned on, which will depend on if your carrier supports it. Im also using 2 numbers on one iPhone. When im on wifi both lines can receive calls while the other line is in use, because of the wifi calling feature. When im on LTE/5G and making a call from my Line 1, Line 2 is connected via 5G/Lte of Line 1, which means i can receive calls on Line 2 even if im on a call on Line 1. When im calling from Line 2, i get the No Signal on Line 1 because i don’t have a data plan on Line 2, only a phone plan. If i had a data plan on Line 2 , i would turn on Allow cellular data switching so when im using Line 2 , Line 1 could use data from Line 2 to stay connected. Hope it’s not too confusing.
