Of course I had to have some kind of bad luck with delivery day lol. I ordered my case and screen protector weeks ago in advance to make sure i was well prepared. Go figure the spices 2 back of screen protectors both had dust on the protector on the adhesive side in the exact same spot!

First one I put on I thought I just screwed it up but I was extra careful. Second one I pull out and inspect it and go figure, I can see the spec of dust on the 2nd one before I even peeled anything off

I attempted to install anyways on some luck it would adhere. Nope! Nice dust bubble in the same damn spot!

So now I’m rocking my screen naked for the next 24 hours until the replacements arrive!

I've gone with Spigen on my 14 PM and previous phone - really simple to install cleanly. Before applying, the last thing I do is give it a dust-off with a manual bulb blower made for lens cleaning. But I have had much poorer luck with trying to put one on my Mini 6.

I’m not sure what country you live in but in the USA most stores that sell basic electronic stuff sell screen protectors for iPhones.

Yea that’s why I went with them for the easy install. Never had bad luck before, so it sucks both were bad. I was worried it was the phone until I seen the dust lol

Know what you mean. I hate to think how many I've trashed over the years because of that one speck that can't be unseen. I gave up on the Mini 6.

I’m surprised to hear screen protectors are still used. I never feel like I’m extra careful with my iPhone. I take basic precautions. I’ve never had a scratch that I noticed. I thought the screens were pretty durable by this point.

I do on my phone as I use it in the wilderness at times for its GPS & terrain map display (Gaia GPS - nice app) - nicer size than my Garmin unit (I do also take & use paper maps & compass).

You must be a brave man for rocking your phone without a screen protector.

I willnt touch that phone till the screen protector arrives.

That makes complete sense! My iPhone typically only goes to the wilderness of Best Buy and the mall 🤪

I thought so too…. UNTIL i got a job installing Solar Panels this Summer. I completely shattered the front & back of my iphone 11 Pro. So I guess it depends on what kind of activities you do. Before the solar job, I NEVER got so much as a scratch on my naked iPhone.

I bet that you haven’t noticed but there are minor scratches on your screen somewhere. Then again it’s not just about scratches but also about cracking or even shattering the screen. With one of my previous iPhones I tripped on some concrete stairs while holding my phone and the screen side hit one of the stairs. Luckily I had a quality glass screen protector on there and it cracked leaving the actual screen unscathed.

So even under normal everyday use there is a risk no matter how careful you are. So in my opinion a glass screen protector is absolutely essential and it’s not in any way a detriment to the experience of using the phone. If you take that risk that’s your choice but I choose not to.

The screens are more durable in the sense of shatter but are likely more prone to scratches. Seems the more hardened the glass from shattering = more prone to scratching or at least to my knowledge. Hence the threads that keep coming up year after year.

I removed my matte screen protector on my 12 Mini today and replaced it with a nice Spigen EZ install glass screen protector. Looks stunning, so glad I paid a little extra as it feels better than a naked screen.

Never have ever used a screen protector in any iPhone I’ve ever owned since 2010. Never have broke a screen.. the worst I’ve ever gotten is micro scratches.

In my eyes, they are tools and I’m not going to own it forever. I think for me a screen protector takes away the tactile feel of the native screen.

Put a damp towel under your iPhone, use a bright light to see the finer specks of dust. Use the lint remover strips to capture the dust from the back of the film and from the iPhone screen. The gently lower the glass. No fans running, the damp towel will not attract dust around the iPhone. That’s how i perfectly installed my glass. I’ve done this so often, I’m very good at it now. Hope this helps

I appreciate the tips, will definitely try this tomorow

why would you not keep the dust screen protector on while waiting for replacements? I’d be too paranoid haha

I agree about the feel. My 13 was naked and loved the feel, until of course until I scratched the screen

After you lay the glass down and you find, maybe a piece of lint or dirt or something underneath the screen just lift a corner up with your fingernail after washing your hands thoroughly to get any grease or dirt away from your hands and use one of those lint strips to stick underneath the glass between the phone screen and the film, and you can usually pluck those little pieces of dirt out from under the screen without having to take the entire thing off.
