Hello I noticed a thin dust fibre in the front camera of my 14 pro max, however when I launch the front camera and take a selfie it does NOT affect the picture quality. How is that possible?

The 3 rear cameras don’t have any dust.

The sensor can’t focus on dust inside the lens. The only effect could be less light getting through to the sensor but it probably is not that bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Well as I mentioned I can’t see anything wrong with it at all…. Just that I know it’s there.

Get over it…

I was going to link an article about it on pro camera lenses. Fact is - if you know how to look for it, you will see dust inside all of the lenses. It’s a fact of life and you can minimize it but it will always be there. This is not a hardware issue but an issue with a lot of people here on this forum. You will never get a perfect phone.

There was a journalist who went under cover in one of the iPhone plants in China. The workers had to do thousands of backplate work per day and the only way to keep your sanity was to force the action which left a tiny mark. People like you would probably obsess over this mark, but if you actually knew what caused it you would actually be ashamed to return it. So factory work is crapy, someone working on your phone let a dust particle in the lens, they are human - so live with it…

I’ll try something different and tell me if it works.

Annie Chow was the factory worker who sets the front camera module in the frame of the phone you have. She is pretty but also a single mother who needs her job to keep her cute little children feed. If many people complained about dust under the lens, Apple would forward the lot number to the factory and Annie would lose her job and the children would lose their home and starve.

So by you just learning to live with the dust particle under the lens, every time you see it you will know that you helped that family survive - half way around the world!

Now you can live with it…

Well that’s deep but Annie needs to improve her skills I would say… if she wants her job… that’s no excuse to let dust in the module….

It wasn’t all Annie’s fault. The factory was closed for a while because of the Covid protocols - unlike previous years. Dust would settle and be in abundance when production started up again.

Annie is a good girl, the type you could take home to meet your family and marry. One tiny speck under the glass that doesn’t mean anything to the function of the camera. Be a hero, live with the speck of dust and bridge the political and socio-economic gap and prove we are all humans worthy of empathy anywhere in the world. I know you have it in you!

Be brave, be strong, watch six…
