So my 14 pro max took a rumble down 3 flights of stairs 🤦‍♀️ it had a case on at the time and a screen protector. Screen looks unharmed.

Decided to do an express replacement...any experiences with that? How long before the new unit arrives and was it brand new?

With the express replacement you’ll be getting an as new device, even Apple refurb units are as good as new you won’t be able to tell the difference. It will have a new battery, and everything fully tested and new components fitted where necessary. There are times where they will ship a new unit in a white box as a refurb but you’ll never know or be able to tell anyway.

Refurb units have different serial numbers to identify them, but that’s the only difference.

Thank you! I was assuming as much but just wanted to make sure. I am so happy with the device I currently have (with the obvious exception og the shattered back) so fingers crossed the replacement unit will be 👌 as well

Apple refers to them as 'remanufactured'. ;)

'Cause, you know, the word 'refurb' has issues. :)

Would suggest using a real case with dual or triple layers when you receive your refurb. The clear cases are only good for scratch protection and aesthetics.
Can you recommend any good ones? Preferably ones that can be bought within Europe

It doesn't need to be anything fancy. Like a bike helmet, you want something with a hard and soft layer. These are the first two that look decent in a quick search.

I have a Spigen case and I accidentally dropped mine off a two story balcony and it was fine. I've also cartwheeled it across the street. I have butter fingers. And that was just their liquid clear case. If you want something stronger, I'd go with their armor series (although everything looks to be out of stock on the UK site).

Tech21 is overpriced garbage.

I like the spigen so will take a look at that. Thanks!

I linked you to an out of stock item, so I apologize for that. There doesn't seem to be much stock on the UK site. I'm not familiar with the brand the poster above linked. You can certainly try it. But I only buy Spigen cases now after trying so many, so I'm a bit biased. Their screen protectors are also fantastic. I used to get the silicon Apple cases until I realized how garbage they are when the phone actually hits the floor.

I found a Norwegian website that has a few spigen cases actually. So I will definitely take a look 🙂

Doesn't seem like Amazon ships to me unfortunately

You can order directly from Spigen. As long as their carriers ship to your country, you should be fine. You said Norwegian and USPS ships to Norway so I think you're good.

Not true, I have had clear cases, with good protection. I used the Otter box clear case with padding and the one from Apple.
Like I said above, I have the Spigen clear case and dropped mine off a two-story balcony and it was fine. It's the case, not the translucency, that protects the phone. 🤪

I have this and much durable and better protection than otter clear cases. It saved my phone from some pretty bad falls.

That case is insanely hard to take off the phone.
I never had issues if I had to take case off the phone. I don’t take the case off my phone very often. I never used apple cases but this one is built like a tank for the size.

A lot of it depends on luck and where the impact occurs. When you only have one layer, the case compresses but doesn't spread out the impact. A hard outer shell spreads the impact force.

I absolutely LOVE Mous cases. Check them out. www.mous.co

My top 3 reasons for using these cases:

1. Super protection for your phone
2. Case feels great while using your phone
3. Depending on the specific case you get, they have a LOT of amazing accessories

Personally, I have one that has the IntraLock. The Mous case works perfectly with all my Magsafe stuff, but adds an additional layer of security when I want my phone to stay on the mount. I have them on my mountain, and road bikes and use the velcro Intralock mount one when I go to the gym and golfing.

I love Mous! I am not affiliated in anyway with Mous, just a dedicated customer that has used their cases for many years!

p.s. I forgot to add I believe they are based in the UK. Also, I have their magsafe car mount (which is great) and have a Mous case for my AirPods Pro 2nd Gen which fits and works great! 😊

Even multi layer case is luck. That way no case is fool proof. I had great experience phone falling from multiple directions/multiple heights with clear cases, be it otter or Apple.
