Hi!

I have two months old 14 pro and it gets suspiciously hot.

Livestream/videos with 5G really hot.
Livestream/videos with 4G hot.
Livestream/videos with wifi sometimes hot.

Occasionally basic web browsing can make the phone hot. In all cases you can definitely feel the hotness back at the phone.

IOS 16.1 overheating issue was next to camera bump and mute switch. Phone was burning hot in 5G.

IOS 16.2 overheating issue is around the apple logo. Its better now but still very hot in 5G.

Has anyone else this problem?

Video taxes the CPU. The CPU het warm and in turn will make the back of the phone warm. There is no fan so the only way the CPU can shed heat is by using the body of the phone As a heat sink.

Nope, it’s not normal. Are you using Yt, TikTok, Netflic, etc. to stream videos or are you doing it via browser? If via browser, can you mention which sites you are visiting?

Install this app and toggle it in Safari settings. Otherwise, your phone could get warm to touch if it's brightness is high. My 13 pro gets warm from time to time, depends of the brightness level. But never hot. Ok, it might get hot if i run Geekbench several times one after another. But in normal use, no.
Thermal wise, WiFi is better then 4G and 4G is better then 5G. But I have 5G off for the same reason. Heat and battery consumption. I leave it on only when I have bad speeds on 4G.
Hope it helps.

5G is hot. I mean disturbingly hot. Feels like something is very wrong with the phone.

4G is warm, maybe not hot, but warm enough to feel it. Mute switch side, next to camera bump, and near apple logo, those are the places which feels warm or hot.

In 4G:
-phone is warm if I watch youtube.
-Phone is occasionally warm when I use twitter.

Basic stuff can heat up my phone, dang

Not normal. Warm yeah. But not if scratching hot.

Does this happen when wireless charging? Mine gets super hot wireless charging. enough where I worry about the battery.

My old 11 pro max was never hot or warm.

I use apple 18W fast charger via cable. Phone is little warm when charging, I would say normally warm.

Well I use it indoors and still warm.

Livestream is the worst and if I use PiP at the same time it gets really warm.

Sometimes even twitter makes my phone warm.
