UPDATE: THREAD WAS A MASSIVE FAIL - PLEASE IGNORE.

As everyone (should) knows, the Apple store is down.

Prices on all Euro stores are MISSING from the Tech Specs pages of the iMacs. I've checked UK, DE, FR & IE.

Tenuous Theory:

The new iMac is being released today 18/07/2012.

Europe is ahead of the US (which still has prices) time-wise.

As the 'old' iMac is technically now no longer on sale in Europe, the prices are missing from the Euro stores.

The iMac is coming - you heard it here first ;)

I've looked through all of the pages on the UK store, they are all fine EXCEPT the iMac Tech Spec page!

First it was pinging me to the US store and showing the prices in $, now it's showing the UK page BUT with NO PRICES.

Something's happening!!!!

No, no changes in Germany :(

The Tech Spec page is loading fine for me on both the US and UK sites.

I'm not sure if I want to listen to someone who can't even spell imminent.

Damn guys, how hard is this?

Which is the ONLY page on the whole store NOT to have prices? The iMac page.

Does that no mean anything???? The price was there earlier - now it's not.

Maybe there is gonna be small cut in the price since its still old hardware, and Apple wants to compete until the october release?

Prices are 'back' on the iMac. I think the apple store is down because mountain lion is coming soon. They must change the backgrounds on the Macs to the ML wallpaper.

The whole apple store app is down too, just getting the same we'll be back soon message. When they do maintenance is it normally just a few hours overnight? It seems strange for it to still be down in the day time (or maybe it doesn't I'm new to this so forgive me!). Really hope it's a new iMac as I can't wait till October and will have to buy the old one if they don't refresh before I go back to uni.

when you click the buy link

(the URL is http://store.apple.com/uk/go/imac/)

it says "We're busy updating the Apple store". This is interesting.

Why do you find this interesting? It's the normal message that appears every time the store goes down. Sometimes it goes down for a product refresh. Most often it goes down for maintenance. Someone mentioned on another thread that the images look better on the rMBP, so it may be that the store is down to make it prettier for the rMBP owners.

----------

There were NEVER prices for iMacs in this section

There normally are. You can still see them on the US Mac pages

Best explanation yet.

Maintenance is normally done on a Tuesday night / Wednesday morning. It's been down something like 12 times this year on a Wednesday morning with no product refresh.

It's routine Wednesday morning maintenance and it's normal for the store to be down 3-6 hours.

A few factoids from this site: Is The Apple Store Down? - Apple Store Status Check
  • The Store regularly goes down on Wednesdays (18 times since January 2010)
  • The average Store downtime is about 2 hours and 48 minutes
  • On average the Store goes down every 2 weeks, 1 day, 5 hours and 36 minutes
  • The last Store downtime is 6 hours and 14 minutes
