You also charge your MacBook with it too, right? Lmk how it is.

If you say it fast charges well on the Mac I’ll snag one if it’s still available. Burlington has a lot of Nimble accessories at a quarter of the price sold at Apple Store

First and foremost bro 👊 I have the 14 inch MacBook Pro M4 Pro, it came with the 70 watt Apple usb c adapter. I primarily charge my only MacBook with it for MagSafe. For USB-C cable and not MagSafe I use the ports on my power strips to charge my MBP, and the included charger.

The power strips are from the Globe Electric brand, which the big one costed like $16 and the smaller one at $10-12. Ross sells them and if you cannot get it Amazon has them too; they are modern and minimalist too.
I primarily use it for iPhone and AW S6(USB A ) but have used occasionally to hold charge on 16 inch MBP. It should be much better in charging 14 inch MBP.

That would only apply if a person is actively using the machine. When the machine is not being used, even. 35 watt charger will charge the battery. It will take some time to reach a full charge, but it will charge. Overnight charging? Who cares whether it takes 4 hours or 7 hours?
Good luck charging a 16 Inch MBP with 35 watt charger in 15-18 hrs let alone 4-7 hrs.

87 Watts is a significant amount of power. For a MacBook, even 16", to fully consume the 87 watts would require the MacBook 16" to running balls to the walls for an extended period of time. As in the fans running full blast, the CPU pegged at 100%. Even then I don't think the 16" system would fully consume 87 watts.
Yes, it absolutely would. Apple packs a 140W charger in the box for a reason. If they could get a way with 87W that's what would be in the box.

Notebookcheck found the max load they got from a 16" M4 Max was 144W, usually using 125W under load.

Interesting, what happens if you do something intensive like play a video game, can the 35 watt charger keep up? Or will the battery start draining? Or will the laptop shut down due to the lack of power?
I have no idea. I don’t play video games. I just plug in the machine, the phone, and the watch and go to bed. Everything is charged when I wake up. All the devices last all day on a charge for my use. Saving weight, and space, is important for me. Bigger chargers add to the weight and bulk. I am certain the bigger chargers would charge faster, support intensive use of the machine while charger. The charger came with the MacBook and I see no reason to spend more money on a different charger when the apple charger does what I need.

I don’t play games either but use it for work. Battery life depends on what you either laptop. If you are light user battery may last longer. MBP is lot better than Intel chips on batteries but the charge goes down much faster when I am working. You don’t need to play games or blast the laptop under heavy load.

Thanks. Just wondering if it’s worth getting a second MagSafe 3 cable for the office for the trip safety feature (but without the fast charging)
It’s more of peace of mind thing. I get by using usb c or MagSafe in my travels. Sometimes I just carry a usb c and brick for charging iPad Pro and MBP with same cable. If you can afford and makes you use the laptop with out worrying, go for it. Unless you have setup with wires and kids or people tripping.

🔥 will see if they have it again. Have only two 20W usb c adapters and one that came with my Mac, so I better start upgrading out of these ancient USB A 5W adapters from Apple.

Perhaps that was a bad example, as i don't play video games either, i only chose that because it is something that makes the laptop draw a lot of power, so any activity of that type will do, for example editing video? (I don't do that either, it is just an example). So my original questions still stands, wil the 35 watt charger be enough? And what happens if it doens't provide enough power?

Can any generation 140W USB-C Power Adapter work ok for a MacBook Pro 16” M4 Max ?

ie. will one for a MacBook Pro 16” M1 Max be identical to the ones for an M4 Max

Similarly will any apple USB-C MagSafe 3 cable be used regardless of which MBP 16”
Yes, but remember that you can't use the 140-watt on a plane. Anything over 100 watts will cause the power port to shut off. I carry a 96 watt when traveling for that reason.

Thus far it has been more than enough. As for what happens when it is not enough? Probably no different than someone whose laptop battery runs down and there is no power outlets.

If you're using more power than the adapter can provide it will use battery to supplement. So your battery percentage will continue to deplete until you either stop doing something intensive or run out of battery.

No cost involved in the charger as it came with the MacBook. So the price of other brands is irrelevant as I don't need to purchase those extra chargers.

Yeah, I've decided at this point to use my 87W MBP 15" charger on my MBP 16" instead of buying a another 140W charger

Here’s the links for them. One is a small grey one which didn’t have the USB C port in it since it’s an older strip from 2018, so I’m attaching the newer one. the black one that is larger has a USB C port on it, that one I got a year ago. I keep the grey one behind a side table in my room where my Mac charges when it’s not on my desk and the black one by my nightstand and desk. The USB C port supports PD fast charging.

Thanks bro, I'll look out for something similar at my local store or Amazon!

I like the grey one with surge protector, reminds me I need to get one for my new'ish MBP 16" for the office

I use my MBP16 M1 Pro with a Spigen 45w GaN dual port charger while I travel and it even doesnt discharge while running World of Warcraft + Youtube in the background. 140w feels like an overkill in most scenarios..

I play World of Warcraft with a Spigen 45w dual port charger (MBP16" M1 Pro) and it doesnt eat up from the battery.

👍 and it’s also better than traditional power strips which looks too bulky and ugly, and these lasts longer. The braided cable and the flat plug is also perfect when plugging behind furniture.

Thanks bro! Also going to get his Anker 140W charger, don't like paying full price at the Apple store but looks like the only way to get a white one (Apple store exclusive) and has 3 more charging ports than Apples 140W charger!

I'm hoping so. I broke down and bought it. Hate giving Apple money without a sale/discount, but should get 7% cash back from a rewards site; only $10.50, but hey that's two coffee's ;) 😂 😂
