I have mine at the full 2880x1800 using SetResX... So much screen real estate but it makes my eyes bleed :)
 
I use best for Retina for normal use. When i need more, I switch. I do this because honestly, if its not on best for retina, its not that clear at all.
 
For the most part I use "Best for Retina" - the lack of workspace doesn't bother me too much. Especially knowing that retina optimized apps will probably negate the need to increase the resolution in time.
