I've had an intrusive MacKeeper ad pop us a few times today, here's the screen cap:

This is extremely effective in not having to deal with ads on MacRumors! 😀

I am a demi, but I gave up on jumping through all the hoops to get rid of the ads when the forums were updated. I'm sure they got it all hammered out, but I just got tired of trying to figure it out.

What "hoops"? As a contributor, you don't have to do anything to get rid of the ads. It just happens.

That isn't totally true. There are a few minor steps a new contributor must go through to eliminate the ads. When the site design update occurred we had to do it all over again.
