Too little bass. I need to turn up the equalizer to make me dance. When I turn off the equalizer, though, I feel like I'm listening to cheap earphones.

In layman's terms, it's not good enough. The beats aren't really booming.

And did I mention how horrible it sounds in public with noise? They aren't even trying to isolate the noise.

They should have taken Apple's In-Ear, boost the bass a lot, then bundle it. That's just perfect.

What are your thoughts?

My initial experience was disappointing. They sound better than the old earbuds but i had to keep fidgeting with the jack to get sound out of both pods. Annoying when you're trying to run.

I think your expectations are too high. Apple went from some of the worst headphones to these. Baby steps....baby steps. :p

I still prefer my Ultimate Ears.

In the end they are still just a bundled accessory

I've purchased several electronics that had bundled headphones and they were all pretty bland sounding. The fact that Apple decided to at least improve on their old design is still a win in my book.

Get some good in ear headphones if your taste in music is bass heavy

When Apple said "Competitors costs a hundred dollars more", I expected S4i quality, not this. I still can't hear the bass. Well, I can, but it isn't strong enough.

And did I mention the annoying thing when you're in noisy environments? UGH! I can't even enjoy what I'm listening to!

So is the Beats By Dr. Dre. It's a free bundled accessory with some droid phone (I forgot, probably HTC). So is the Samsung's earphones which is so much better than this.

They have made the Apple In-Ear, though. They should have bundled that. Since they have experience with making that headphone, I wouldn't call it "Baby Steps".

they're not all that bad, better than before. although I don't use them anyways. I use Jaybird Freedom for the gym. love Bluetooth headphones.

They have a tremendous amount more bass than earbuds and as already mentioned they are an order of magnitude better than earbuds. They also aren't isolation so you can't make a direct comparison to Apple headphones (or other similar products). I think people what them to sound like over-driven clipped distorted bass that makes kids fall off their bikes when you drive by.

Really? Complaining about stock apple ear phones? Lol. Did you really expect noise canceling earphones? Seriously, the headphones are multi purposed for taking calls and being able to listen to media when needed. They aren't beats by dre. If you want bass, dish out $200 for some beats. :)

I have prefer to not have noise canceling headphones on when I'm on the phone because I can still hear my surroundings. Talking to someone on a noise cancellation headset makes me feel like I'm deaf and not aware of anything around me.

Have you tried the new jaybird freedom headphones? They're apparently smaller which was a complaint I had with the originals.

When they said "Competitors cost a hundred dollars more" they didn't finish that sentence by saying "and our headphones are just as good." :p

Jumbo jets cost millions more.

Of course they totally break the iPhone when you try to plug them in.

I don't bother buying aftermarket ear buds. Waste of money as far as I am concerned, and the Earpods are a huge upgrade, so I am pleased.

People actually use the headphones that come with the iphone? lol

I listen to music with headphones maybe 3 times a week tops for a couple hours each time at work, the included ones work great for that. The new ones are even better. I'm not going to spend money on some super awesome pair.

I will never understand the notion that bass is the most important thing in headphones. Also, what do you expect out of headphones that come free with iPhones and only cost $29 on their own?

If you want to hear what good, balanced bass sounds like, buy some Audio Technica M50s.

For stock earphones, I must say its decent. It is definitely not the best and looks downright awkward, but it's really a lot better than the old ones.

They went from crappy to acceptable with FREE headphones, (or $30 by themselves) not too bad. What do you guys expect? Bose? Beats? I mean i think many here are expecting too much for headphones that come with the phone

I guess I'm in the minority because I never really had a problem with the old ones. They fit my ears fine when I ran and the quality was decent for a stock item.

That being said, I don't even use them anymore after getting a pair of Bose, which are without question the best earphones I've ever had (I've gone through plenty).

Go get these at Wal-Mart. The best headphones for the money, I have bought 2 pairs haha. Great bass and treble, just do not lose the black foam pieces.
