In another thread this is a problem with quite a few new Mini's,and I was about to order one, but if this problem is in them all,I think I will wait till their is a fix for it.

I know we only usually hear about problems, but if there are any users not suffering the Black Screen maybe they could let us know.

Thanks

Alan

Mmm... looks like everyone's using an adapter. I'm on an ACD using the Mini Display Port (connected to the Thunderbolt port). I guess that's why it hasn't happened to me?

Maybe faulty adapters, maybe an issue in the OS when using an adapter... Anyways, if it's just when using the HDMI port I guess there's gotta be an easy fix for that!

this is an hdmi port driver issue. I have pretty much tested every possible hdmi to dvi and hdmi to hdmi combo using a 2011 mac mini it never happens. using 2 not one 2012 minis it happens.

I have a hdmi monitor a hdmi tv and a dvi monitor. I have 3 minis. I can get the base 2012 and the mid 2012 to do the blackouts with all my displays and with hdmi to hdmi cables hdmi to dvi adapter and with hdmi to dvi cable. Repeat with the 2011 base mini that I have nothing happens.

I am waiting on a display to hdmi cable I will use the t-bolt/display port on a 2012 mini and boot via a usb3 case. No black out in this case would be the nail in the coffin as to a drive issue on the hdmi ports.

None yet. At the moment I'm using a Wacom Cintiq via a Monoprice mini display port to DVI adapter. Sometime this weekend we'll see how it does with a Cinema Display and Apple's hdmi adapter.

No display problems here with the Apple HDMI to DVI adapter and Cinema Display and the mini display port to DVI adapter and Viewsonic display...

I am not having any issues. I am using the HDMI to DVI adapter. IT has been fine on the Apple 24inch cinema display and also the dell U2412M as well.

HDMI port driver problem? Mmm... Just out of curiosity, is it completely random?

pretty much so. firefox or safari on various sites. I mostly do online usage so I have not seen it doing off line work. This happened a while back with older minis and 10.6.0 to maybe 10.6.4 but after 10.6.4 no issues. back then it could flicker and or just stay black.

I fact if I do fresh instals on a 2010 mini of snow leopard with the 10.6.4 oem dvd I get almost the same issue until I update the mini to 10.6.5 or higher.

No probs here, I'm using a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable to my Dell Ultrasharp monitor.

I'm wondering if it could be the HDMI-to-DVI adapter on the new 2012 models? I am using the old HDMI-to-DVI adapter from my 2010 mini, again, with no problems.

So if this is a HDMI Driver problem I am guessing the earliest we will see a fix is in 10.8.3, but then thats not guaranteed :(

I'm having no problem. I'm using it with a hdmi cable from Amazon in a Sony Bravia. I can try the new adapter.

I'm not having any issues. I've been using my 27" iMac as a display. I also hooked it up to my tv with direct hdmi to hdmi, no problems on either. I am having issues with the power cord not staying and hitting the contacts.

I don't have any problems, neither using the Thunderbolt Display nor using a TV via HDMI.

If you're planning on using 2560 x 1440 you're going to have to use a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable anyway, since the mini doesn't support that resolution with HDMI or DVI.

I also have not had the black screen problem. Using an HDMI to HDMI connection to a 46" Sony LCD TV.
