I still have 50 days left to decide on if I want either? Is there any major issues with this phone to make me want to get AppleCare or is that for only if you physically damage your phone yourself ? If I don’t get it, if something fails in the phone will it be covered under the 1 year factory ? Thanks

Looks like if I got a good case and screen protector that AppleCare + would then be borderline a waste of money .

How long will you keep your 14? If you pay monthly for AppleCare then you’ll be covered until You stop paying for it on that device. I always get it monthly, whether I keep the iPhone for a year or longer. It’s always good to have especially if you are one that refuses to carry your iPhone without a case.

AppleCare is also good to have if you need support with your iPhone. After a year you’ll have to pay for that support over the phone or in person. I chose care with theft and loss.

I’ll keep it over a year probably . But I do run very bulky cases and good screen protectors

I always get Apple Care + on my phones and iPads. Just had to take my 13PM in to have the back replaced (took it out of case and the back was shattered) only $29.00 bucks to get it fixed. Would have been $300+ without AppleCare. It always seems like a waist till you need it.

What kind of case was it. That plays a huge roll In why it probably got cracked .

It does matter , a crappy case would have caused you to need that Apple care plus. Thankfully you had it.. Plain and simple

Bottom line with all insurances is they can feel like a waste of money until the day you need them. I do get AppleCare + for my new phones and watches. The added peace of mind alone is worth it to me.

Basically, if you have a good dual-layer case and don’t have butterfingers, you should be fine without. Most people don’t go below 80% battery capacity in two years either.

I have a screen protector and a case. Thinking of ditching the screen protector.
First time purchasing apple care and owning an iPhone. Overkill I guess.

I have had a couple of iPhones replaced via Applecare. In one case it likely was a software problem but they replaced it anyway. I always have screen protectors and cases but things like the charging port can fail even with those protections.

For me it is well worth the money not to worry about it being dropped or stolen when I am away from home.
