I've had the 11 PM, 12PM, 13 PM and got tired of the size.I still keep phones in my pocket and lately I rather have the smaller Pro model. I sold my 13 PM and got the 13 Pro. Fits much better in my pocket. No more big phone for me, I just ordered the 14 Pro.

My first Pro Max although I did have a 7 Plus. Honestly, I also keep an Android line and going from my smaller Pro to my Pixel 6 has been jarring. Plus my 12 Pro battery is and has been utter crap the past ~5 months. So pro max should resolve both.

Max doesn’t show much more than regular phone, mostly larger scale with exception of safari showing a couple extra lines of text. It really is about wanting longer battery and larger image.

How I miss the days of the 6 Plus custom horizontal UI ala iPad, keyboard, etc.

Getting one of each; currently have a 1tb 13 pro max and a 256Gb 13 pro. Both replaced by 14” variants.

Strangely I am going for the purple 1tb max this year. I always stick to the same old colour normally and the pro is going to go up to a 512gb variant.

I am going from the pro to the promax. I was not impressed with the battery on the pro.

I like having the Pro Max because at my work I have tons of down time, in which the Pro Max is much more comfortable for video watching / entertainment when an iPad isn’t an option. Say I decide to go on a quick spur of the moment camping trip, it’s nice not having to lug around a big iPad while still having a big enough viewing screen for comfort.

I also like having a phone with the longest battery life possible, in case I want to keep it long term for many years. This way as the phone battery degrades over time, the drop in battery life (say from 29 hours to 23 hours) isn’t that bad compared to the drop you see in some of the smaller phone models.

I also like having the phone which always has the latest tech. The Pro Max costs the most, true, but just like how it got the sensor shift technology first before any other model I like not having to worry that I’m missing out. Another clear example of this is how Apple gave it’s largest / most expensive iPad 12.9 inch the mini-led screen tech before any others.

According to Apple’s numbers the battery is certainly not worse, but in any case, I always go for the largest option. More screen real estate. And after years of owning Plus/Max sized phones, they just feel normal to me. Anything smaller seems too small.

Great post. This makes total sense.

Pro Max mostly because of the battery. I don’t like the battery on my current 13 Pro so I think that I would not like the battery also on the normal 14 pro considering the Always on Display which will consume even more battery.

I decided to roll with the Pro Max in Space Black as I currently have the 13 Pro, and figured why not try the bigger size.

14 Pro because I went in store to test out a Pro Max and was reminded why I shouldn’t buy it. It’s uncomfortable and a strain just for me to try to reach across the screen to swipe to go back. My thumb almost doesn’t reach over there, and my hands aren’t even small.

My hand got fatigued just after two minutes of use. The finger gymnastics that are needed to handle the phone are nuts. And that’s a bare naked Pro Max! Imagine how much worse it’d be with a case on.

And then with Dynamic Island, that island is very far away from the one-handed reachable area of the device. Granted, it’s not reachable on the Pro either, but it’s much farther away on the Max.

Not to mention, the Pro Max just isn’t discreet at all. I don’t see how you could ever use that in public without people around you being able to look at what you’re doing on your phone while you use it. AND it’ll have a harder time fitting in your pockets and will be pulling your pants/shorts down more.

I wanted the Pro Max for the bigger screen and battery, but it’s really not worth handling such a large device everyday.

i’ve always had a plus / max phone but for the 13 gen decided to do the pro. honestly loved the size but came to realize i still use it with two hands and still have to awkwardly shuffle around to get to the top of screen so at that pt might as well get the Pro max with better battery and screen. i also think the display island will look better on the pro max. just my thoughts

Pro Max because it's easier to read and type on it and the battery. Honestly, both the sizes are uncomfortable to me to use one handed. Even on the 6.1, I have to do hand gymnastics to reach the top plus the flat sides aren't that comfortable to hold either. It's like picking your poison and in one of them I get a few extra perks. iPhone X's size and ergonomics were perfect for me.

I always go back and forth on screen size even to this day. All the way back to the original release of the 6 and 6 Plus. I’ve had a few cycles of the large device and regular.

It’s a tough decision, but overall I still think to this day I prefer the regular sized phones.

With the Max models, I really tend to like them when I’m chilling at home, on my couch, bed, or what have you, browsing and texting. That big screen then becomes super nice. That is until I’m out and about. Putting it in my pocket when I’m wearing shorts in the summer, or casual pants out and about, it becomes annoying quick. Even little things like fitting it into my little space in my car under the instrument cluster, the size becomes more of a pain than a benefit.

The long battery life is super impressive, but when I had my 11 Pro Max with my usage I was hitting the point of diminishing returns. Every single night I would end on 50-75% battery depending on my usage. I can only imagine what it would be with a modern Pro Max with how good the battery has become. I think the 13 / 14 Pro gives similar battery life to the 11 Pro Max if I’m not mistaken.

Not to mention the weight. The 11 Pro Max weight already nags on me and the 14 Pro Max is even heavier. If I do decide to upgrade, I think I’ll go for the Pro this year because I’m really missing the pocketable size, and it’s not like a 6.1” screen is small or anything.

I'm switching from 12 Pro Max to 14 Pro. Back then I bought the 12 Pro Max because of the better camera compared to the 12 Pro. In hindsight, that was a mistake because the differences weren't really visible at all.

I never was really happy with the size of the 12 Pro Max though, so I'm going back to the smaller phone.

Switching to the 14 Pro. Couldn’t reach the top of the screen good on the Max and I imagine that’s gonna be inconvenient with the dynamic island.
This is also what I am thinking of but I really like the PM real estate. Still undecided even though I have already ordered the PM 😅. Still have time to cancel my order though. Decisions, decisions…

Go big or go home. I run a business with my phone and use it a ton, the bigger screen and better battery life are well worth the trade off of it being a little bigger in my pocket
