Are you guys running your lid closed(clamshell)? Mine would run hot and fans spinning like crazy with the lid shut. Doesn’t do it connected to an external with the lid open. Runs cooler too.

definitely running with the top up, lol. Control screen on screen 1 outputting content video to screen 2 and sometimes 3. With the extra video output my MBP runs hot fans running full speed. But again I am also using a after Market video card.

Ps I am looking at using a Mac mini with the new sonnet rack mount for external Io cards using a full length video card.

yes my 2018 MBP w/
Radeon Pro 555 always ran hot, so I have a stand already, and i'm already on amazon now looking to get one shipped tomorrow before my Glastonbury show.

I have had a few but the tarsus cool pad pro shifted the most air, have a good show

so news back from apple----the engineers know about it, its apparently fixed in Catalina, there might be a fix for mohave but they are all working hard on getting Catalina done so it probably will be post Cat

I hope it will be fixed in Catalina. I've got HDCP strippers just in case its the same way when upgrading to Catalina.

I have the same issue with my Dell 27 inch monitor! Super annoying. Turning the monitor off and then back on solves it temporarily.

Had an event for 4th of July Using a Roland Switcher this time. Was on High Sierra and the problem came back so had to use a HDMI splitter/HDCP stripper to fix the issue and it worked. Really hope Catalina fixes it. Upgrading to Mojave since High Sierra didn't 100% fix the issue.

looks like the .6 Mojave update fixed the hdcp problem (its not in the patch notes tho....)

Resolume 6 c>hdmi hdmi > dvi into my v800hd works smooth now

interested to see if the update works for other posters

Good to hear that .6 fixed it for you. I'll try the update with my Analog Way Switcher and also with my Roland V800HD as well and will post the results.

Have exact this issue. What splitter works? Need to buy ASAP. Got 9 shows in 10 days.

the latest mohave update fixed things so update and save your money or if you like spending money the isolem 2 way hd splitter box did the business before the update for me

Hi all!,

I know this forum is old, but I wanted to add that I was also getting lag/stuttering every 3 seconds or so on a brand new 16in MacBook Pro. I am using a DisplayPort to usb c and am getting the stuttering on both my Sceptre 4k display as well as the MacBook screen. I went to the monitor settings and disabled Overdrive and so far that seems to have fixed the issue. As soon as I disabled it, I noticed a huge jump in responsiveness from the mouse. It is odd that my mid 2014 15in MacBook pro with Iris Pro graphics does not have this issue running at 4k 60Hz.

If anyone is still having this issue, check your monitor settings and fiddle around until you find something that makes the computer happy. Seems to be an issue with dual graphics models.

Thanks @hugox30 My Macbook Pro 16in arrived, everything was well until I plugged in my wide screen external monitor.
My Fix (so Far) has been to change the monitor settings to DP1.1 from DP1.2. The mouse immediately stopped skipping after powering monitor off and on.

Changing to HDMI on USB-C hub or different ports didn't fix it. This seems to be an ongoing issue for many... Tut tut Apple Inc.

I forgot to update my original post. Disabling overdrive on the monitor did not resolve my issue. I found that using an hdmi to usb-c was much better. My issue seemed to be that I was using display port to usb-c. It would cause stutter every few seconds at random times. It would go away if I power cycled the monitor, but would eventually return. Would only happen at 4K 60hz. If your monitor has hdmi capable of running your desired resolution and refresh rate, then I recommend trying an hdmi to usb-c. For 4K 60hz I believe your monitor hdmi port has to be version 2.0. You should also make sure the cable is compatible to run at that.
