I can hardly notice the difference honestly in meetings between the 13 and 15, from across a table.... I dont think that click sounds is bad either...

Where I work is so old school, everyone uses paper pads and pens in meetings. Even an iPad feels out of place in a meeting, I can’t imagine using a 15” laptop. I find it a bit odd and annoying, honestly, and wish I could bring my iPad or 13 inch MBP in a meeting without completely standing out.

:D I remember about 10 years back I was in a meeting with a new team on a deal pursuit. Everyone there was looking at printed spreadsheets and printed word documents, and I was sitting there tapping my iPAQ PDA and reading the same documents. When I questioned one of the clauses in the document the presenter, who thought I'd been dicking around playing solitaire, was really surprised when he asked "You're reading the clauses on that thing?" somewhat sarcastically and I read the references back to him verbatim. We worked together quite a bit after that, he was a good guy, but so many were so very old school back then. NOBODY would bring a laptop unless actively presenting.

But I prefer that over meetings today where a bunch of people have laptops and are really only pretending to pay attention to the presenter. There's a time and a place for sure.

And these days where I work, any laptops are fine. We mostly have ~14" sized Windows laptops IIRC. Nobody really cares what they are (brand), we just use them. A few have MacBooks of various flavours but the 15" isn't really that much bigger than the previous 2015 13", which is not huge compared to a typical 14" Windows laptop.

It was like that where I work ten years ago. Then all of the younger adults came in and everything changed.

What an awesome story. And yeah there is definitely a time and a place, and it’s a lot easier to hide behind a computer and not listen to anyone than it is with just a pad and pen.

I guess the biggest thing that annoys me is that I always have a hard time deciphering my own handwriting and I can type way faster than I can write by hand. This makes using a computer or tablet for note taking a lot easier when I’m taking notes and later when I need to recall said notes. But I’ve been stuck on pen and paper for years now where I work and using any technology in meetings (unless I am presenting) is just too awkward.

I guess where I work needs more younger adults! Actually we have them, just even when they are present in meetings they tend to take the cue from the old timers and stick to pen and paper. The only computers in use at most meetings where I work are the presenter and the person taking minutes.
