So I was playing a game on my macbook pro and it suddenly went all white with a line down the screen for about half a second then restarted and said it had to restart. The macbook is a 15 inch from mid 2010, and I know its not the common tantalum capacitor issue on these models as it already had that issue, and I fixed it with a non tantalum one.
Heres the kernel panic report

Just wanted to see if anyone knows what caused it so I can fix the problem. Thanks. (also this is the first time it has done this)

If it’s an isolated occurrence, I would not worry about it. Spontaneous data corruption can occur randomly and it can crash a computer just like that (that’s why workstations use error-correcting RAM).

I discovered a kernel panic last week, a first, and reported by Etrecheck. It pointed to Coinverter, a simple currency converter tool I use on all my Macs. I never actually saw the Mac doing anything funny though.

2010 & 2011 15” MBPs have bad soldering on the graphics cards,
so you will get random restarts if trying to use 1080p video, or screensaver, etc.
but the crash report will always say “GPU PANIC” at the start of the report

the 2010 does not have bad soldering on the GPU, that is only the 2011. And the 2011 issue doesnt have a kernel panic, the 2010 does and the 2010 issue is a single bad capacitor that causes it to panic when switching GPUs it has nothing to do with the actual GPU itself. And, I already fixed that issue as I said in the original post.

The specific kernel panic in the OP looks like it was caused by some interaction between the Karabiner kext and the macOS system software it interacts with (the hidd or Human Interface Device daemon). It might be just a one-off incident. The panic in the OP is the only one that comes up in an Internet search with this version of the kext and if this is the only issue that's occurring, I wouldn't think that it's due to the replaced capacitor.

The 2010 was known for having kernel panics later in life. Mine had it constantly.
As I said, I already fixed this issue.

Alright, Ill take a look at that app

lol getting a new mac tomorrow or saturday,
so if anyone wants to buy a 15" 2010 MBP with 1TB SSD & 4GB ram, lemme know! :apple:

how much for just the SSD?
i dunno. how much are they worth?
& i dunno how to remove it
but i'll sell it separate sure
there’s an electronics recycling place right behind us
if it’s not worth anything, i will take it apart,
then i can keep the cover with the cool Apple logo & use it it my room as a light lol

just got home with a new iMac!
[doublepost=1562270975][/doublepost]
SSD drives have dropped quote a bit in price and are as low as $75: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100011693 4814 600038463 600414920&Order=PRICE

Crucial, Kingston, Adata, Samsung are all good choices.
which is probably what my 2010 15" MBP is worth huh?
just got a new iMac!!
mom bought one (her birthday was yesterday)
gonna set it up tomorrow

stripping a unibody macbook pro down to the aluminum shell around the display can be very difficult. I wouldnt bother with it.
