Hello there,

I recently got the 2015 Macbook Pro 15" 2.5Ghz Quad Core, the 2nd model for the 15" series.
I was using a 2012 Macbook air before this.

After inputting my password in the login screen with the avatar from a startup, you would see the loading bar in the login screen load. The thing is, half way through the screen will go black, and then you will see a black screen with a loading bar continue to finish the loading. The computer starts up fine, but when I was using the Macbook Air, you would see the loading bar finish loading in the login screen before taking me to the desktop.

Also, when shutting down the Macbook Pro, the dock hides itself before it shuts down right? My dock would hide halfway, so you only see top half of the icons, and then screen goes black.

Is this normal?

Thanks

I've seen that startup behavior happen with Macs that have Filevault on AND the Volume Group shares the same name as the actual OS X Volume.

Shutdown behavior, I've seen it a few times like that typically when I have Mail still running or any Disks or Disk Images at time of shutdown.

Kissmyne, thanks! I turned off FileVault and it became a lot smoother now :)

While I understand that you may be interested in the resons for this behaviour, I can't believe anyone would turn off the security of filevault just to have a smooth bootup or shutdown that means nothing in the use of the machine
