15'' MacBook pro cd on 13'' MacBook

I have to reinstall my friends operating system and I don't have the osx install DVD. Can I use the osx disk that came with my new MacBook even though it says it's for the 15'' MacBook pro?

No, those restore DVDs are model specific.

Ok, well I have a dmg copy of the install DVD. Is there any way I can use that on an external drive without burning it to a DVD?

Did you download it? If so, then no I wouldnt. $30 is dirt cheap, go get a new copy of Snow Leopard.

No, I didn't download it. I just made a copy and lost the origional

well its against the EULA to use your single license on another machine with it installed on another machine.
