I gotta say that while I would have liked the ability to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB for an extra $200 or so, I am currently using an 8GB rMBP from 2012 and I never felt any problems, at least for my usage (which included some video editing). I am sure 16GB is going to be alright.
That's not an official quote -- it's just some ANALyst guessing...The front cover said 2017 it will be bumped to 32
