I currently own a 2.33 ghz 17" macbook pro, and I am saving up for a new 15". As I'm getting closer to reaching the right amount of money, I'm having trouble deciding what to do. The pro i have now is used extensively, and with money being a factor, I need to decide which 15" to get. Should i buy the 2.53 ghz with a 500 gb 7200 rpm HD, or the 2.66 ghz standard? please help!!!

Thanks for telling us anything about what you use your computer for in order to help you decide. Why do you think you need a new one in the first place?

i use it for school and music recording mainly. i need a new one for many reasons. one, the 0,left,right, and down keys don't work cause of a sibling spilling on it. Also, the hinges on the moniter have snapped, leaving it held together by metal tape, and it would cost 650 to fix. i need a new one

Why are you having trouble deciding between the two?

Yikes, sounds like you beat it up pretty well. I'd probably just go for the cheapest model unless your school/music recording demands lots of processor.
