I have been riding a Vespa for over 5 years to and from work. I carry my MBP in a Brenthaven knapsack and have had no problems. Nice to see other riders here. 🙂
Hey I travel with my MacBook in the rucksack every week. Of course the power is always turned off... and I'm a really crazy Super Sport driver... SO don't worry, your Mac will be fine!
Funny, cause I've done it all the time and it's not an issue. keep in mind, those magnets are at the bottom of the bag and I usually pad my laptop (as well as it's being in its sleeve/case) so it's not right next to those magnets anyways.
A backpack in a motorcycle crash will absorb energy, not act as a fulcrum and break your back. That's about as true as the full face helmet breaking your neck ideology.
Really, so you want to land on something htat is going to raise your back up and nothing else? You do realize that will bend your back when yoru legs and head aren't supported as well?

The likelihood of a HDD being damaged by a magnet is pretty slim, I dunno about you or anyone else, but the idea of having my laptop in a bag with magnets that powerful doesn't sit well. Maybe nothing could/would ever happen, maybe one day your drive fails. Why take the risk?

What kind of motorcycle crash has a person landing perfectly flat on their back, legs and head nice and steady straight out? Even if you did crash in such a way and weren't wearing a pack, the back of your helmet sticks out a good 2 inches from the base of your neck, isn't that going to cause you to snap your neck? Even so, you should have on a proper back protector, which would prevent your back from articulating backwards anyway.
There is nothing wrong with ones choice in motorcycle luggage, but misinformation about gear is what leads to people wearing skull caps, jeans and tennis shoes, and then wondering why they lose a foot and need skin grafts after a crash.

I've been riding for years with my 17" MBP. I picked up a boblbee metropolis bag.
They are stylish too! (color matched to my blue zx10r). One of the most comfortable bag's I've ever wore while riding and in general with a laptop in it.
