Well, then I might inform you that memory surprisingly often really is the reason for a problem that has something to do with hardware. In that case it is good to have a lifetime warranty, and also you can sell them again with warranty. Have you had a look at Apple SSDs' speed numbers? Writing n reading speeds, they're not too fast. If you really want the benefit from an SSD, you should buy an OCZ Vertex. Too bad OS X doesn't support trim, but vertex has garbage collection also.
I guess I would have to see something empirical to be convinced of what you're saying about memory. I do agree though that Apple's SSDs are not the best option since there are many 3rd-party models on the market that surpass Apple's offerings in every aspect.
 
Alright so you guys are saying that I should just go with the base model i5 because the speed difference is not that great a gulf between the two processors, and it's more fiscally smart?
I will be waiting for the back to school promotion to buy the mbp
I also plan on getting the HR matte screen. Buying either a larger hdd or solid state drive and installing them myself and possibly more memory. And a Speck case and foof sleeve.
