Hello,
Macbook Pro 15 mid 2009
I'm working on a parts machine buy
that was obviously dropped, the case is
bent a little near the ethernet port. And
I'm guessing it may have been wet too.
Anyway, I managed to get the thing to
boot up normally and it will work okay
for a short while, but then the cursor
will not move.
After booting up, I first get a warning alert
telling me that a USB device was drawing too much power,
and the USB devices have been disabled.
Next I get a dialog box telling me the date is
set to before 2008.
Then the cursor freezes.
Oh my as I've been typing this, the screen has
turned completely purple... first time I saw this,
I had been holding the power button down to
turn it off before !!! ;-)
Any ideas would be great.
I was going to try a new battery, and a new pram
battery. And was going to try to clean out the
usb sockets, thinking there might be some sort
of shorting grime on them.
I'm really posting to specifically ask if there IS a
pram battery on this model, and where it is
located. I'll find it eventually, but I'd like to know
where to start. I'll probably follow along with ifixit's
logic board how-to and then continue removing
everything from the upper case. I have found an
un damaged upper case that I would like to use.
But If new batteries make it work, I can live with
a bent ethernet port, if everything begins to work
nicely.
Thanks for any ideas.
