do you want it to be portable? If so grab the 13" because it is lighter and has a smaller form factor. If you want semi portability, but would rather have a bigger screen, go for the 15". I personally got the 15 because I would rather have a slightly larger screen, and I haven't really had any problems with portability.

Isn't this poll kind of stupid?

"specs and price the same"

You're asking people to share their individual (and highly subjective) needs based on criteria that doesn't exist. What's the point?

lol exactly. IDK why people feel the need to ask questions like this. Maybe to reinforce their purchasing decision, but to be honest does it really matter what size screen somebody else wants? I'm not going to buy the size laptop that is popular on a forum, I'm going to buy the size that meets my needs as a laptop owner.

It's a notebook, not a desktop. Therefore it should be as portable as possible in my mind. I'd get a cheap 13" and a nice monitor or a desktop for home.

It's sad if it's true that it's only 0.1% ;(((

But what I'm puzzled with (respective this cause for better screen options) why so many "geeks" here so offended when you bring up say Sony's 13.1 1600x screen for comparison ...
I would understand if those folks were running marketing department for Apple & compensated for performance ...
Or if they'd have a huge stock of Apple shares.

That's the deeper problem I think - attitude that even doubting Apple is a high treason, and all the "Innovation" is only acceptable when SJ hails it.

and small number of geeks here is not a big deal - I'm sure you yourself influence a lot of folks, more than that, they tend to repeat/duplicate what you say :)

Apple sells about 10 million computers annually. And MR has 344,000 members. So if there are say 30,000,000 unique apple users there's about 1 MR member for every 100 of them.

For the intent of this exercise, assume that we're talking about the high-end 13" and the low end 15". They both have the same specs except screen size and the fact that the 15" is $200 more, but we will spot the 15" guys $200 to cover the spread.

So the only real differentiating factor here is, would you rather have a 13" screen or a 15" screen? Why would you choose that screen size? The criteria exists, because we define it ourselves.

The point is so that other users can come up with their own criteria, based on others' real-world usage that may be similar to their own. It's asking others for advice.

I'd chose the 13" because my #1 criteria is portability. Portability trumps the built-in screen size because I know I've got a 22" (1680/1050) monitor at home waiting for it. And for me the portability of the 13" Air >> 13" MBP, so I will likely go with the Air, prices and specs be damned.

It's about 'screen size preference' in a notebook ...

if the spec's/price where equal which screen size would you choose in a notebook and why?

13" with a MiniDisplayPort to VGA for my 26" LCD :D That way you have max portability, and 26">15" for home
