Is there any chance the Apple store will let you return or exchange an iphone on the 15th or 16th day? Perhaps a manager over-ride? Or is it dead set in stone no return after 14 days?
The best thing to do is contact the store directly and ask to speak to a manager. If you're still under the 14 day return policy and you need 1 or 2 days past that time frame they may accommodate you. Don't casually walk into the Apple store on the 15th day expecting to be taken care of. You won't be happy.
Can't call the store it automatically directs to a nearby call center which has no knowledge of the store.

Not sure what number you phone but at least this is the case for the NYC stores/I've called my store directly several times.

Call the store number and when the auto voice asks you what the call is about, say manager and it will connect you to the store

Update: I'm the original poster. I rec'd an istocknow email that the plus was in stock in Racho, CA. I rushed over there and they had one in stock. I was now 18 days into my first iphone 6 purchase. The genius didn't even mentioned I was over 14 days. He just said I'll get my manager to type in her code. So now I have the iphone 6 plus and I'm loving it!
If ordered online from tmobile, you have 30 days to return
