The bookstore at my school is selling the 15" Powerbook 1.5ghz 80 GB HD, 512mb Ram, Combo for 1299 brand new! AND they have the 20" iMac 2ghz for $1199! Too bad I didn't know a couple weeks ago when I bought my 14" ibook for $1199. Boo.
This was fixed with the airport update. Plus, this affects newest revision ibooks as much as it does the newest revision powerbook (I'm on an ibook) so going to an ibook if this problem wasn't solved wouldn't have been the solution anyway.

Yeah...there have been many documented incidents of the problem happening on the ibook. So the problem has definitely been fixed? Have you confirmed this? If it has....I will finally buy that extra 1gb stick of RAM.
BTW....I have a 14" ibook 1.42 ghz, and the manual says that ddr333 ram WILL fit and work, but that pc2100 ddr266 will run better since it matches the original ram. However, Crucial recommends the ddr333. I know that Crucial is a respectable manufacturer, but should I buy the ddr266 anyway? I think they carry that ram, but it is recommended for the older ibooks.
