I was a pretty frequent iPhone buyer (1, 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5S, 6+, 6S+, 7+, X, XS, 12PM) upgrading most years as there were significant hardware changes to the handset, especially around the camera (which is very important to me). Then the 12PM came along and changed all that. 13PM and 14PM offered very little in the way of upgrades from my 12PM, so I waited out for the 15PM which offered a big step change in the lens'.

Well 3yrs has flown by with my 15PM and it's that time of year again, but this time I'm really struggling to see any benefit to go from my 15PM to 18PM. It really does feel like Apple have stalled completely. I have no interest in losing Face ID and the zoom lens, so the duo is a non-starter.

Curious to hear form other 15PM owners like me who were ready to upgrade, as to what you are doing? In all likelihood I'm tempted to just have a new battery put in at Apple for £95, buy a new case, and hold on for another year.

Never did I think I'd be waiting 4 years to upgrade my iPhone! 🤷‍♂️

I still using iPhone 15 here. Actually next year iPhone is more interesting. Is not another Duo. Is the regular candy bar model. Just that the design change. You will not see the " notch " on the screen. Next it also have a new type of battery for it. Etc new stuffs. Is like the starting of the new series of iPhone down the road.

I have a 15PM and will be getting a duo, but also hanging onto the 15PM for when I want a better camera more than I want a large screen. iPhone Handoff is a game-changer for me… and I use T-Mobile so G2G there 😉

When I don’t need the “camera phone” I’ll leave it attached to my display as a Continuity Camera too, so win-win.

I have 1tb 15 pro max and wasn’t going to upgrade as I’m happy with it and paid a lot for it, still has 94 battery health etc. However my wife’s 13 pro max is getting on a bit, 80 battery health and is only 128gb. So she gets my 15 PM and I’ll trade hers in for a new 18 PM for me : ). This time I’ll go 512gb as 1tb is overkill, saves me $800 AUD. Apple will give me $390 trade in on her phone. Should be good improvements from my 15 PM, especially battery and camera.

Updates have become very incremental. If the current iPhone functions well and does everything one requires from it, there is no need to upgrade. Upgrading to a Duo will be different but lack of zoom lens and FaceID is a big no for many including myself.

Maybe wait till the 20th anniversary iPhone comes out next year. Might be different!!

If it's not thinner and lighter than that PM without sacrificing screen size, then it's a no go.

These new phones are boring. Nothing worth handing your cash over to Apple for vs. keeping it for your future.

Change the damn battery and keep the phones. Jeez.

And also, if you're going to get a new phone, give it to your wife, not yourself. Ugh.

I am trading my 15 PM for an 18 PM. The battery life means I don’t have to carry a portable charger when traveling, and variable aperture sweetened the deal.

Probably stay with my 15 PM. I really have no logical reason not to. I might have went with the 18PM, but the hype around the 2027 version is making me reconsider.
