I was a little suspect of the titanium finish and I guess maybe my thoughts were validated upon inspection of my iPhone 15 Pro yesterday. I had been using it all weekend and yesterday I took the case off because I had another brand come in that I possibly wanted to try.

It was faint, but there was already a faded long scratch down one side of the phone. I inspected it pretty carefully before putting the case on to. And I didn’t drop it or anything either. In fact I’ve been very gentle with it all weekend and didn’t even take it out of the house.

Then another thing I noticed is how smudgy it got with such little use. The fingerprints and smudges it attracted was insane. I have the black model so maybe that could be why. But the fact that they wouldn’t wipe off with a simple Micro fiber cloth really sucked, or to better word, the amount of effort it takes to wipe the smudges away is significant. My 14 Pro attracted a ton of smudges too, but could always wipe off very easily.

Maybe I should’ve gotten the natural titanium, or maybe my finish is defective, I don’t know. I’ll be returning it today though. I was already on the fence and impulse purchased it to begin with. But I think as far as Titanium goes I’m going to wait a year or two to see if Apple refines the finish a bit. Because that was pretty jarring.

I’m sure plenty if not most all people are not having any issues at all and that’s great, but just sharing my experience.

On second thought, I may give a 15 Plus a try. I want to try a larger model again and I ended up getting a family member a 15 Plus and when I unboxed it I was extremely impressed with the finish on it. The frosted finish on the back and rounded corners made it feel much nicer this time around. I’m not really crazy about the 120hz screen, I mean it’s nice but I can easily live without it, I also definitely do not take advantage of the Pro camera. I take maybe 50 photos a year if I’m lucky.

Interesting...what case were you using?

I am using an Apple Watch Ultra for a year and have zero issues with Titanium casing. If you are concerned with it, use a case.

There is no such thing as a metal or paint that doesn't scratch.

There's no such thing as a hard surface that doesn't collect fingerprints. That's how police have been solving crimes for a century.

Solution : Don't scratch it. Ignore fingerprints - they are always coming and going. Use a case.

Firstworldproblemers are just so in denial about reality. They live in a fantasyverse.

If you're on the fence about a purchase you shouldn't go through with it in the first place. I doubt the 15+ will be any different of an experience...

Silly responses form the iCrowd faithful. If something scratches this easily it's totally unacceptable. Bring the phone back.
The only way to keep an iPhone pristine is to not use it and leave it in the box. The SS bands on the iPhone 12-14 series scratched even with cases. It’s the nature of the beast. If sand or some other material makes it into a case it will most likely result in a scratch.

Personally I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just leave it in the case and in about 6-8 months you’ll be thinking about the new iPhone anyway.

Genuine question: are those people worrying about scratch risk using their iPhones caseless? As far as I can tell, the polished stainless was much more prone to scratches than the titanium.

Are people hoping to go caseless, and now disappointed that they probably should still use a case if they want to be 100% scratch free?
