15" rMBP to QHD+ Resolution

I've always thought it a bit odd that the 13" rMBP has a higher pixel density than the 15" considering the available graphics solutions. With QHD+ (3200x1800) emerging as the standard for high-end laptops, I was wondering if there was any precedent for Apple making such a significant change within the same product line.
