15" rMBP, who uses retina resolution?

I don't have one, but it seems like you would have to squint a lot. Don't see what the point of making everything smaller is, especially if you can't read it.
I'm using 1920x1200 right now and no squinting needed. Unless your talking about the native retina resolution, go educate your self on that.
I use 1920x1200 100% of the time. I tried even going to full 2880x1800, which is doable, but it does strain my eyes a bit if I'm not wearing my glasses. At least I know whenever I need that space I could use it.
I'm usually at 1920x1200 but sometimes I do switch over to 2880x1800 which is actually fine and the extra real estate is awesome.
Just switched to 1900 x 1200 after reading this thread. WoW so much more screen real estate!!

Obviously not everything is shrunken down (I wouldn't call making everything smaller "more screen real estate") and you don't get as much performance loss as the higher hidpi resolutions.
Generally run in 1440x900 (love the sharpness and I like being able to view pictures without "throwing away" pixels). Occasionally I run 2880x1800 when using a non-Retina application like Acrobat.
then why did you buy a retina display, if you are not using the retina resolution?

Soon be in my 40s so my eyes arnt what they used to be.
Using 1440x900 hiDPI all the time anything else and I end up having to move a bit closer to the screen.

Best for Retina is just fine for me. Don't like the thought of all that upscaling and downscaling.

what so good about it, it is so small for me
I use the best for Retina since I find the other options kinda suck in terms of sharpness. I do wish Apple would make a panel that was optimized for the 1680x1050 resolution. Here's to hopping in the future we will have a better variety of "best for retina" selections, though given it's Apple, I sincerely doubt that will ever come to pass.
