So it seems that thee are a few macs with "Assembled in USA" etched on their bodies. Is yours one of them?

The “Assembled in USA” label doesn’t just mean that foreign parts screwed together in the US either. The FTC assumes that a ”substantial transformation” must happen in the US for the label to be used.

It goes on to quote the actual FTC rules on using 'Assembled in USA'.

Looks like the base 21.5" to me. They list the specs in the teardown.

How would they have a non-retail 2012 iMac? iFixit doesn't get early review units, and you couldn't order online until Friday.

That is kind of what I suspected. Pretty possible.

I do not trust multiple coincidences, such as there is a very tiny amount of assembled in USA iMacs on the market and ifixit just got one on the launch day and then they teared this one down.

Nobody said anything about trying to get one, we're just curious how many exist that were made in the USA.

So far, that iFixit model has been the only one.
