So it seems that thee are a few macs with "Assembled in USA" etched on their bodies. Is yours one of them?

I'll be sure to look when I get my 27 inch. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but if the former, I hope that it is.

If mine is assembled in the USA I will feel like I've got a golden machine.

Funny thing is, the parts come from all over the world, not just China.

    Did you read the article?

It goes on to quote the actual FTC rules on using 'Assembled in USA'.

Apparently it's not your computer in the picture, just curious because the text "Apparaten skall anslutas till jordat nätuttag" means "this device has to be connected to a grounded power outlet."

Apparently ifixit did not tear down the retail version iMac. So...;)

Looks like the base 21.5" to me. They list the specs in the teardown.

Please... not the retail version does not mean another configuration...

They can get the gear directly from Apple. (I did not mean Apple store here!)

How would they have a non-retail 2012 iMac? iFixit doesn't get early review units, and you couldn't order online until Friday.

My 2011 27" iMac is assembled in the U.S. Says so on the box and the bottom-side of the computer. :)

Haha somehow I doubt Apple is sending them units to tear down.

That is kind of what I suspected. Pretty possible.

I do not trust multiple coincidences, such as there is a very tiny amount of assembled in USA iMacs on the market and ifixit just got one on the launch day and then they teared this one down.

Personally I don't have a problem showing this as I already have to my favorite podcaster because all my previous Macs were made in China but are you asking for pics out of disbelief?

Just got mine at a Future Shop (Best Buy) store near Montreal.

    Assembled in China. :(

For those who got American-Made please post the retail location you purchased from (or if it was ordered).

Nobody said anything about trying to get one, we're just curious how many exist that were made in the USA.

So far, that iFixit model has been the only one.
