Too me this seems pointless, it takes up more screen space than the "older" bars did.

Question is, what are your thoughts?

I think the way it looks is nice. It's something different and doesn't bother me.

I also think the new dots looks much nicer than the traditional bars. I mean my very first Nokia house brick had them. time for a change and the dots are easier to see at a glance in my opinion.

:) bring it on I say.

'The only constant in the universe is change' - some clever bod said that....

I for one welcome change as long as its change for purpose, not just for change. Change to a cleaner look is a good step.

I like the dots, but the carrier name is still present to the right of them. If they could get rid of the carrier name, it would be perfect.

Agreed. When you enable VPN it starts getting pretty cluttered up there to the left of the clock, so I'd love to see the carrier name done away with. Also, if the signal dots were slightly overlapping they could make it even smaller.

They take up too much space, I like the older signal bars, looks more modern and cleaner to me. For a guy who praises on minimalism, I don't understand the move behind this. Referring to Ives btw.

Plus those circles remind me of the holes by the earpiece on the Samsung Galaxy S4. Ugly

They look clean, and maybe design wise they are nicer.

But for carriers with long names it takes way to much space.

Same as iOS 6. Once I use the phone I don't notice either.

Not worse or better. Just different.

Surprised by the poll results. Thought most people would hate them. As someone who loves iOS 7, I sure could do without this :p

I like the looks of the dots. It's a refreshing change.

Yet I will give you credit for the lengths to which you went to bash Android. You'll probably have to do more in order to vent all your negative energy :D

I'd like them better if they were square, or smaller, but much nicer than signal bars.

I wonder if we will be able to put it in field test mode. I actually prefer signal strength over dots or bars.

Indifferent, but if seems inconsistent.

The old bars had visual content in 2 dimensions., height and width. Now it's only width, i.e. only number of dots, but takes up the same space.. So what's the point of the change, especially when the wifi bars are 2 dimensional.

I like them, but I have a very short carrier name - in fact its just the number '3'.

Terrible choice IMO, simply because those dots are almost universal for indicating pages otherwise. Even after a day of using it, I still keep thinking it is indicating what page I am on. Not very intuitive for reception.

Design wise I think they are nicer than bars, but bars have become inextricably linked with reception.

It would be like if someone took the wifi signal indicator and replaced it with some squares. The wifi signal has become inextricably linked with wifi. Leave it at that.
