I like them but usually only have 1 or 2 bars of signal strength at home :D

"Signal strength 'dots' what are your thoughts?"

There are far more important things in life, go for a walk and get a sense of purpose.

I like them. My carrier's name already takes a lot of space, so it doesn't bother me since the only thing between that and the time is the wireless sight or E/3G/LTE, which fit right in. Plus, it's much more balanced opposite the battery's bar.

I'm with you dude! Either a lot of people have no life or forums are completely dominated by slackers and nuts. Maybe both.

I don't care about bars or dots...I never look at either and if you do you need a mental adjustment.

I worry about the youth of today, they’ll find that life passes them by very quickly by pondering such items in great detail.

And yet, here you are replying to a post that you thought was pointless.

Not sure what that makes you...

To those complaining about this comment.. Considering these finer details is the role of a designer, without such considerations, you wouldn't have half the products you use every day. So quit your bitching, and go complain about someone else's conversation.

Personally, I really dislike them.. Simply because they are a bad design choice and go against everything that Ive sold us in his video about ios 7. They take up more room than is needed.. They highlight what you don't have rather than just what you do, they distract from your content (which is supposed to rise above) and they are quite a bold design statement on every screen you'll see in ios.

If you don't care about them, great, lucky you, but this is a conversation for design enthusiasts whether they love them or hate them.

I like them, they're more function than the bars. The problem with the bars is that for the same height it takes up less horizontal space, making it less visible. Plus because the carrier name is in a lighter weight, it doesn't take up too much room, although having no carrier at all would be ideal.

I don't mind something other than bars (since the bar heights are misleading...) but I think the dots take up too much space.

I'd love if they could remove the carrier name, I'd like the dots much better then, but that'd probably piss some company off.

I think a signal strength bar is useless. All you need to know is what kind of connection you have: none, wifi only, cell only, or both.

For sure they are better looking than the old signal bars. But I hate how cluttered it looks when it has the carrier name and possibly other icons on the status bar next to it. I hope they add a setting to hide carrier name, because mine is 10 characters long and will take so much space. Or a possible jailbreak to hide it..

I think they're cool. Everyone else uses the signal bars so it is different and not too bad. So I believe the new signal circles are a slight net positive.

I hate the dots and want the bars back. I think it was a bad choice and for visually impaired folks I can see it becoming an issue against a light wallpaper.

I agree.. why any bars at all? That top left corner is such premium space, and almost half the screen is taken up with 5 x dots, operator name, and then sometimes 'GPRS'.... all of which could be merged into a simple 'G' which could be brighter/weaker depending on strength (with accessibility options)... this would leave room for some other icons for notifications if desired. What about the countdown timer if that is running? There is so much potential here.

The better question is why did they make the page dots bigger... bigger than the signal dots and bigger than the page dots in iOS6.

Consistently inconsistent.
