I’m looking at buying the 15in M2 MBA and was wondering if I were to upgrade either the RAM to 16gb or storage too 512gb, which should I go with?

Edit: I’m also concerned with the slower SSD speeds with the base model compared to my current M1 MBA.

Depends on your needs. I need ram but not storage, so I went with 16GB. But I have another pc I have anything needed stored on. Plus, you can get external storage, but not external ram.

Makes sense. I just do basic office work

This is a constant debate. For most simple users 8GB is probably sufficient. You probably won't notice it even if you push it because of how well the system works. I personally got 16GB just to get some room. And the system does use it. YMMV

You can buy an external ssd if you run out of storage, so I would always choose RAM. Slower ssd speeds on the base model are unlikely to be a problem in real world usage.
